Who has been the best Canucks defenseman after 1990?

Tough questions. I'd almost lean towards Lumme only because we always seem to lack that offensive dman / power play guy. While he's not on par with some of the best of his time, he was the best we had aside from Brown who i won't count as he wasn't here long enough.

I think all around, it's prob Ohlund but Lumme's right there for me......

Wow, as a Leafs fan, I always thought Jovocop was really overrated . . . at least in the games I watched, he was (as mentioned previously) a defensive disaster.

I'd say Ohlund - big, tough, offensively talented - he brought the whole package, and did so with a quiet class. Only knock was a couple of injuries along the way.

Ohlund, without a doubt. Rock steady dman that ate minutes on the ice, responsible in his own end, moderate offensive capability, could hit hard and dropped them when he needed to. And he did it all for 10 or so years.

Underrated? More like understated. Even better about Ohlund was that he brought all that to each game, and did it without a lot of fanfare or hoopla. So far, I think he's the best dman that Vancouver has ever had.

If Willie Mitchell lasts another 6 years here, he might overtake him.

Mitchell
Ehrhoff
Ohlund
Jovo

I said Ohlund because he's a pretty good all around player and not far behind comes Jovanoski, he's pretty well played too.

HABS RULE!!

I would say either Lovo, great player, Ohlund, amazing, now assistant captain, or Salo, great vet.

They all ddeserve some credit, but I think that Mattias Ohlund has been the best (after the 90's)

jovo

Ohlund by far, and still is
Guest4024 Posted - 04/06/2007 : 16:02:29
I think lumme is underrated in this poll. He was so good at flipping the puck out of the defensive zone. He also contributed alot to the Canucks.

Jovo....

~~~~~GO STARS~~~~~
leigh Posted - 03/30/2007 : 17:32:54
Jovo was a good offensive d-man but he was a train wreck defensively. I've never seen a guy take so many chances on a big hit and then miss to cause a break away!
Saku Steen Posted - 03/30/2007 : 16:56:38
Ed Jovanovski was amazing but its a toss up. I voted Jovanovski but I really dont know. Mattis Ohlund is underated but I dont know if he is as good as Ed.
Nice poll Bonfire.
tctitans Posted - 03/30/2007 : 15:26:49
this was tough, but I voted for Jryki 'Snake Charmer' Lumme.
Other good ones would be Ohlund and Jovo for the more recent years, and Lidster for earlier on (but Lidster had his best years before 1990).
