I love this post. Just keep crap like this up IHC and I'm sure the Pens will win the cup sooner than ever! Hopefully instead of boycotting the NHL you'll boycott this board instead. Carefull what you wish for! LOL! |

Posted - 12/24/2006 : 15:10:40 Well I think Toronto had those wins because they were focused on doing it for their captain; kinda like they needed to prove that they could act without him, that is motivation and I think Sunind was part of that and he saves their butts almost every night. Doan is a bit of the same deal, I think you (babs) mentioned Jovanovski and Nolan...I don't think they are leaders like Doan and Doan does save them. Doan is very valuable. |

Toronto went 4-2-1 in his absence in November. They didn't miss his scoring either, scoring 28 goals in those 7 games. He is their leader but he is not as crucial to Toronto as Crosby is to Pittsburgh. Havlat is another good choice too, unfortunately he may have missed too much time to be considered for the award. Doan is not a crucial part of Phoenix either, especially with all of the players they brought in. Nagy, Nolan, Perreault, Tellqvist, Jovanovski could all pick up the slack if/when he's gone. Leadership is not something a team ABSOLUTELY needs in order to get by (but it is necessary to be successful). Of course it's beneficial, but Pittsburgh is a prime example. Like I said above, Crosby is carrying his team on his back but he doesn't have proper experience in the NHL to provide adequate leadership to his team. He still manages to give them all a chance to do well regardless. |

Posted - 12/24/2006 : 14:03:05 Sundin. Without him his team is COMPLETELY done. I'm not sure who should get it though. Ovechkin is stil a great candidate. My opinions for candidates are: Sundin, Ovechkin, Crosby, Havlat, and possibly Doan(because if his leadership; might aswell throw in Sakic for the same reason). |

Posted - 12/24/2006 : 13:52:09 The Hart is SUPPOSED to be awarded to the player most valuable TO HIS TEAM. This is why I think Ovechkin should have won last year, but it's also why Crosby will be a frontrunner this year. How much more valuable to your team can you be? Sure they have Malkin and Staal now, but I still think Crosby leads the team in every way except experience. Regardless how you think he celebrates goals or how "undeserved" his assists are, he's doing as much as anyone else could to try to lift the Penguins out of the sewer. Who else has been MORE valuable? I don't mean to ask who else is, because many have been extremely valuable but I can't think of anyone else who has been MORE valuable to his team. |

Posted - 12/14/2006 : 08:01:55 28 points in his last 15! He is now leading the league and could win the art ross if he keeps this up. What a performance - I just wish we saw him more out west. |
