Posted - 03/11/2008 : 19:30:03 with tonights win and shutout of the devils tonight does anyone think that the habs are a threat to come out on top in the east during the playoffs. i know they have a rookie goalie but it's been done before in the past.is this team tough enough to go to the finals?

That's great!! Now what's MTL's record against OTT this season? How about the last meeting (before this game), what was the score? One game does not make a season. BTW not a Sens fan. Just pointing out the obvious record of MTL vs OTT the past couple of years. |

Yeah Montreal will play the Threashers, on a golf course.... Habs are good. Not enough to be declared outright winner of the East. If they ever run into Ottawa though that's the end. Mtl is dominated by Ott the same way Mtl dominates Boston.
well the games not over yet but the habs are dominating and leading the sens 3-zip.

Posted - 03/20/2008 : 21:07:55 History will repeat itself. Last time the Habs finished first was in '93 the last canadian team to win the Coupe de Stanley. Price will be in his prime during the playoffs. Bring on the Rangers, Philly or Thrashers, Montreal has the talent to take it all this year. Whatever happens the playoffs are going to be great. Eat, Sleep, Play Hockey. Not necessarly in that order.

What are you talking about?? The Habs and Joe have never even squared off in the playoffs. There are no facts surrounding this statement.

Posted - 03/20/2008 : 11:30:23 I WANT them to be a threat, but I just can't say with confidence that they are DEFINITELY better than all of the other teams in their conference...But I can't wait for playoffs to begin! |

Posted - 03/20/2008 : 09:07:42 of course they r a threat if you can win in the regular season, you can win in the playoffs-- usually--they can with no doubt win the cup this year!-let alone compete!

Posted - 03/12/2008 : 14:04:46 The issue becomes, can they match up against the monsters of the West? Personally, I think they are of sound mind and ability, and will have no problem keeping the chemistry going in the post season.
And, while I have said before, I expect there to be many many contenders in the west, when it comes down to them, only one will potentially challenge the Hbas for the cup.
Personally, considering the Habs will be playing their hardest, as they have been, and obviously will continue to do so, I think they should find the first and maybe second round a cake walk. Meanwhile, the team that emerges from the ruble of the west will have had to play some grade A hockey for about a month to land itself a Stanley Cup final berth...
I just don't want to yell ''cup'' to early, however, I think Montreal is the obviuos choice in the east, and a Stanley Cup final from a team on the outside looking in just a year back ain't too shabby.
Thoughs?
All aboard the Price bandwagon
EDIT: Can all the members who look at this join the PickUpHockey Cyber Cup? It only will take two minutes, I am trying to get participation from all the active members. All you need to do for now is read the intro and tell me you will join. Time is of the essence. Thanks guys, I know I can count on you This is the link: http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3820#51395 |

Posted - 03/12/2008 : 11:17:26 Montral has as good a chance as anybody to win the East. They score in bunches and assuming Price can keep up his play their tough to score on. I think their alot like Buffalo last year and they got close but who knows. |

Posted - 03/12/2008 : 05:19:12 I still think they would lose to the Devils in a playoff series, especially if Marty's at the top of his game. I also think Phili and NY Rangers could be problems for whichever teams they play in the playoffs. I think Montreal could take Phili but i think they would lose to the Rangers. So i guess my answer is no, i don't think they will go to the finals. I do think they will finish first in the East in the regular season tho.....
