What do you think? He is having a pretty damn good season in a year without a patrick kane-type player.

If he does win, do you think he will go on to stardom or fizzle into obscurity after winning like... Samsonov for example. He was great out of the gate NOW where is he?

I think Steve Mason desreves a mention here as well. .932 save percentage, 3 shutouts in 18 games on a blue jackets team!! Patrick Berglund is having a good sesson as well. Watch out for Bobby Ryan of the Ducks, he is on a bit of a tear. Blake Wheeler, too.

Go Habs Go!!

Schenn or Grabovski they are both the best two rookies in the League. Thank you Montreal for thinking Grabovski was a no body and allowing Toronto to sign him. He's got more goals than anyone on Montreal

I like Shenn, but with Doughty playing as well as he is, I don't think he has much of a shot. Drew Doughty looks like an absolute stud. Grabovski had 10 goals last month, if he stays hot he could take the lead...

My vote is for Brassard

Let's not forget Drew Doughty, who is averaging 23.32 minutes a game (2.5 minutes more than Schenn).Dought had 9 points (3 goals), Schenn has 2 (0 goals). Also, Doughty is a +2, and Schenn a -6. I'm not knocking Schenn at all, infact, the bad +/- could mean he is facing the top players, but let's not forget about Doughty, who is a number 1/2 defenseman on LA, which means he will be facing guys like Iginla, Getzlaf, Kane, and Hossa.

It is hard to argue with the numbers that Versteeg is putting up.

Schen needs consideration also. A rookie d-man 19 years old playing against the best players in the league, logging the ice time that he is.... not too shabby. Just wait until he has a few years under his belt and puts on some more size, he will be a force to be reconned with.

Gee I don't know if that would be such a factor here. If the NHL has a chance to give hardware to a Toronto Maple Leaf, I don't think anyone would care that the team is losing.

Schenn is an exciting player, so is Grabovski. It may be because I live in this bubble up in Ontario but this is like the fourth time I've heard of Versteeg.

Definity gotta agree Versteeg is looking amazing also Brassard is looking good as well my guess grab finishes 3rd if he can pick up his defensived game and use his body to hit could be a different story but i doubt that will happened since thats why Montreal got rid of him.

I would tend to agree that the rookie of the year for the Leaf's would be Schenn. The kid is playing huge minutes and going a fantastic job as an 18 yr old kid matching up against the oppositions top line night after night. Even sitting here watching the Caps/Leafs, Schenn is on almost every time Ovechkin is on. Not too shabby for a kid that almost everyone figured would be getting ready for the World Juniors right about now.

However, Versteeg in Chicago is on pace for an 80+ point rookie Campain. That's even higher than Sharp and Kane and puts him up near Malkin's rookie season of 85. That is sick! Plus, Chicago appears to be a winning team. Most often, the NHL tends to give the individual awards to players on winning teams more so than losing teams. Not all the time, but more often than not.

If Versteeg stays on pace, he wins in a landslide.
