I've wondered that too...is there anything else associated with Edmonton other than oil? I mean, there's nothing wrong with that, I'm just wondering...

I'm happy, being a reisdent of Edmonton.
Finally I can afford to go to a hockey game and not have to sit in the nosebleeds.

But why is everything around Edmonton named after oil?
I mean I get the big industry but isn't "Kings" enough? Or Fort McMurray? Couldn't they just be called the "Barons"? Even the rec league teams are called oil kings.

Heck, I don't even live in the same country. Who are the Oil Kings? (Obviously from the name I knew they had to be from Edmonton though). I don't really follow the CHL nor do I get coverage, but I voted yes because, well, the more hockey teams the better!

I would have thought that this vote would have been a slam dunk. I'm really curious about the person who voted 'No', why they voted that way, and why they didnt back it up with a post.

For hockey loving cities, it's fantastic.
I'm sure they will be a success in Edmonton.

The Giants in Vancouver has drawn fantastic crowds and have their own following based a large part on your observations (ticket price, ..). Some people are also drawn to the game where some of the kids are playing for a chance to make the show, and other know they wont, but they all just want to win.

Good entertainment. Good value.

Well you could also just eat/drink at home before you go to the game... lol.

I think it will give a cheaper alternative to the Oilers. Let's face it, the majority of people are not in the tax bracket to be able to afford an Oiler Game. Decent tickets are $80 at least. Then, it's $15 for a slice of BP's and a pop. Then, a couple of beers is another $15. So, you are up to $110 per person. A couple if $220 and a family of 4 around $400, more if it's a Friday or Saturday game and you tie one on. For the price of 3-20 oz drafts you can buy a dozen beer and sit on the couch infront of the big screen at home.

I know I am not in the position to spend $200+ on 2 1/2 hours of entertainment.

Now, the Oil Kings are here. The concession stuff will be as expensive, but the tickets are being advertised at $22/game for gold season tickets. Now that is affordable.

I think it will be good!

I am really happy that the Oil Knigs are coming back because I never seen them play and it is cool to have a junoir team in Edmonton. Now that we have a junoir hockey team I can find who will be great prospects and good draft pick.

Oilers Rule!!!
