Orpik had this to say about Semin after taking a High Sticking Penalty in OT that cost Pittsburgh the game :
"He's a baby," Orpik said. "I don't know [if it was a high stick], but he does that all game long. I got zero respect for the kid. Yeah, it is tough to lose on that." -NHL.com
Now I didn't see the play myself, but usually a high stick is pretty easy to call IMO.
Who's the Baby? Any thoughts?
The arena wall in chicago should be credited with a goal. |

I would not Call Semin a baby it is his style of play to be a Dangler so he doesn't have to be tough, same with Wellwood.
As for Orpik he is not a baby because now washington has a reason to fight him which is what he wants. Pulling back out the Crosby idea he is a strong boy who chooses to be a scorer (not a playmaker) but he does not use his body to be aggressive causing him to be more like gretzy having someone do the dirty work for him (Kunitz) |

It was definitely a legit call on Orpik, but i do agree that Semin is very immature. |

Was clearly a penalty, Orpik was just pissed because he cost his team the game for not taking care of his stick. I don't care how much of a whiner someone is, when you stick them in the face as obviously as he did it's not a hard call to make. Insanely entertaining game, on a side note. I'm glad Pitt made it to Washington in time because thats exactly the kind of nationally-televised game the US needs to draw fans into the sport. |

Good Call, Bad call, completely irrelevant. Malkin took a high stick directly off a face off that was missed as well.
In the end, Pitt only needs to look in the mirror as they were up 4-2 going into the 3rd. One call in OT has nothing to do with giving up 4 straight goals.
However, on a positive note for hockey and a non-fan of either team per se, I sure hope we get Pitt vs Wash in the playoffs this year. That game today is easily the most competive and exciting game I have watched all year! |
