Posted - 03/18/2007 : 17:45:36 i like it how it is, but i dont think the teams in the same division should play each other eight times. The western and eastern conference teams should play more often |

Posted - 03/18/2007 : 16:45:31 well they're actually talking about making it a north south conference instead of east west to try and get the canadian teams to play eachother more. |

Posted - 03/16/2007 : 12:32:19 14 x 4 = 56 not 52 so you'd have to take 4 games away from the other Conference. But all in all a decent idea. |

Posted - 03/16/2007 : 08:47:51 I don't think expansion is the answer. I think the league is just fine right now. When you have more than 75% of the teams at .500 of better, that is a sign of a health, competitive league.
In regards to realignment, I am all for it. I think that it is too much of an advantage or disadvantage to play 8 games against each team in the division. And there are only so many Montreal vs Toronto games a guy can stomach watching on Saturday nights. I would rather see 2 large conferences of 15 teams. Then, you play each team in your conference 4 times (14x4=52 games) and each team in the other conference twice (15x2=30 games). This would give each home town and chance to see every team in the league at least once each season.
This would give more of the game back to the fans, in my humble opinion. As well as rivalries would be higher profile. A rivalry loses it's luster when you are playing that team 8 times in a year. |

Posted - 03/16/2007 : 07:32:18 I don't think the NHL needs to expand right now. Mabye if they take out places like St.Louis and New Jersey, who hardly have any attendance, and bring back Quebec and Winnipeg. But expanding to 32 or 34 would be too many teams and too many unimportant, boring games.

Posted - 03/15/2007 : 22:40:37 They could try expanding to 32 with two in the west and push Detroit to the east. Then have four divisions of four team in each conference like the NFL does. Eastern: Would be nice if they could use good names like Sawchuk, Harvey, Malone, and Broda. Tor, Ott, Mon, Bos; Det, Buf, Pit, Phil; Was, NYI, NYR, NJD; Car, TB, Flo, Atl. Western: Worsley, Kelly, Richard, Horton, love that coffee. LOL Nas, Clb, Chic, St. L; Van, Cal, Edm, Win?; Van, L.A., Ana, S.J.; Col, Dal, Hou?, Pho How the games would be dispersed I have no idea. Twelve non-divisional teams and sixteen teams in the other conference. In order to play all of those teams twice, home and away, you would have 56 games. Toss in six in the division, makes 18, leaves 74 games for the season. Another 24 for in conference games would make 98, perhaps to much, but 12, alternating home and away, would mean 86 games. If they wanted to keep the 82 game schedule you could play three, three and two outer divisional games, alternating an extra home, away, and no extra game per division.

Posted - 03/15/2007 : 20:41:26 As a fan that doesn't have an NHL team to watch I don't really care but if I had an NHL team then I would say yes because then you would see more of different teams instead of the same ones over and over again....

Posted - 03/15/2007 : 20:11:31 I think the NHL should expand to 36 teams, adding teams in Kansas City, Houston, Seattle, Portland, Winnepeg, and Quebec. They could realign the divisions as such:
Altantic: NJ, NYI, NYR, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Columbus Northeast: Boston, Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Quebec Southeast: Atlanta, Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Washington, Nashville Central: Chicago, Detroit, Minnesota, Colorado, St Louis, KC Northwest: Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnepeg, Seattle, Portland Pacific: Anaheim, LA, San Jose, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston |

Posted - 12/27/2006 : 05:33:45 So my Sens have basically the same division, but add Pitt and C-Bus?
SIGN ME UP FOR THAT! LOL
Go Sens |

Posted - 12/26/2006 : 22:53:37 Not sure that's a good idea...we will loss a bit of the rivalery "feeling" between teams such as Montreal - Boston, Florida - Tampa or Vancouver - Colorado (gracieuseté d'Bertuzzi.)
Yeah for sure, conferencional matchups will happen more often but one but one the hearts of the NHL is the rivalery...
Strongly Against and sorry for my english :D |

Posted - 12/26/2006 : 22:11:34 Im a vancouver fan and personally I don't like it. A division with San Jose, Dallas, Anaheim and colorado is insanely tough. Calgary and Edmonton aren't pushovers either. However, It could be very exciting with all those teams in one division. |

C-mac, the admin has the power to feature polls so that they can be seen on the main pages of the website and of the forums. Trust me when I say that of all members, the admin himself would not copy a poll. |

LMAO wow thats funny. You should know that the sites posts the most active polls fo u don't have to visit the forums to view or vote for them(or something close to that I believe). I think it coul'd work really well if this happened but if the NHL can't make an even schedual for teams then it will be a big mess up. |

Posted - 12/24/2006 : 16:32:25 WEll this is if the divisions are changed to 4, the top 2 from each division make it from their conference and the last four spots are competed by the rest of the conference, the exact same way that they are thinking of doing it if the divisions change |
Guest4055 |
Posted - 12/24/2006 : 11:54:31 That would be sweet but if you think about how would they do the playoffs? |
Guest4734 |
Posted - 12/23/2006 : 18:31:58 They should make two expansion teams first, one in each conference. i don't know how they will owrk out the games within the divisions now though, cause if each team plays their division teams say 4 times each well the 8 division team would play four more games within the divison and the 7 would play 4 less, so i don't know whats going to happen, hopefully more stuff will become more clear, how do they do it in the NBA? |

Posted - 12/23/2006 : 13:16:58 Here is what we hear is being floated right now; 4 divisions instead of 6 with one in each conference having 7 teams and one in each conference having 8 teams. They are:
West 1) Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose, Colorado and Phoenix West 2) Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Nashville, Dallas, Minnesota and Atlanta East 1) Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Buffalo, Boston, Pittsburgh and Columbus East 2) New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington, Tampa Bay, Florida and Carolina
