At this very moment in time, i'd say Erik Karlsson of Ottawa.
In the future (2-3 years from), i may be more inclined to say John Carlsson of Washington. But, I can't read in to the future.
So my vote (for now) goes to Erik.

His ability to take over a game. He is very inconsistent right now but he has shown flashes of brilliance where nobody can stop him.

What makes you think that Erik Karlsson has a better future? I agree with you that John Carlson is overall better. I think he is also faster and with a better team.
Did you hear about the retired proctologist? He spent 40 years saying "what's a place like this doing in a girl like you?" |

Do you mean John Carlson (note the spelling) of the Washington Capitals, or some other guy named Jon Carlsson?
And, and again, do you mean Erik Karlsson (note spelling again) of the Ottawa Senators?
Did you think they were related, or something? Don't mean to be rude, but spelling is important to differentiate players with similar names, but are not related, in fact from two different countries. |

I would give the edge in offence to Erik but the edge in defence to John. Right now I would probabley say that John Carlson is better overall but Erik has a better future
