Some of my favourite names in history include Tony Twist, and Stu Grimson.

Posted - 01/24/2009 : 19:47:02 hahahaha .. its funny that nobody has thought of that old Jets Tendie .. Pokey Redd***??
3 guys mentioned on this thread have ties to the PG Cougars of the WHL major jr team ... Kwitkowski, Chara and Byfuglien.. I think the most of any jr team on this thread ...
Kinda funny that they have most funny names and are considered the laughing stock of the leauge right now

Posted - 01/24/2009 : 14:59:25 I have to put my vote in for JOHNNY ODUYA with a close second going to VERNON FIDDLER in Nashville (only because he plays in Nashville is it funny). And honourable mention to Darren Puppa.
Milbury and McGuire should fight to the death and both lose. |

A little fun fact for you. On the ESPM website, when you search for a player, the identify each one with a "stats id" number. Guess what Satan's is.... yup 666. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/players/profile?statsId=666&out
Nope. Wrong. ID# 666 is Sergei Nemchinov of the NJ "Devils." :) |

Posted - 01/23/2009 : 05:06:27 Well, missing from the poll for me is Zidlicky, Cheechoo and Tootoo. In fact, I think Tootoo would take it if his name had been Jacob, but not to be.
But how could you miss the devil himself? Miroslav Satan! He is the darkest of Princes, and I remember fondly when he broke in how announcers were fumbling to try not and say it without smirking, it was hilarious . . . I mean, c'mon guys!
Satan plays in the NHL . . . obviously he chose our beloved sport to "cool off"! Only thing better would be if he played for New Jersey . . .

My all time fave though has to be Hakan Loob. Mikko and Saku Koivu come off the tongue nicely as well... |

Posted - 12/15/2007 : 09:34:55 Ryan Carter? what's cool about that? It's definately between Yutaka Fukufuji and Wojtek Wolski for me. But I voted Yutaka Fukufuji. |

In terms of cool North American names, I'm going to have to go with Tony Twist. It sounds like a wrestler's name or something. |

Yeah, lol. I think in Russian it's actually pronounced "Tyoo-tin" rather than "too-tin", but the anglicized pronunciation is funnier
Same for Datsyuk, those "yu"s are pronounced like "you". |
