Eric Lindros is reportedly contemplating his retirement. Do you think he'll hang up the skates before the season starts?

Of course, the Lindros trade was made by a stupid GM and a greedy family. The Gretzky transaction was all about Pocklington and McNall. I hope these days are behind us now, with the new order. Anyway, Eric showed flashes of determination, and even leadership in his short tenure with the Leafs. I didn't see much of him wtih Dallas, but he is probably still an asset at around the $2 mil. range. Slats used to give guys like him a chance, (Pat Falloon, Kent Nillson, Mark Napier) why not?

Anyone remember the big fight between NYR and PHI for Lindros. The trade from the Quebec Nordiques that would have sent Eric Lindros to the New York Rangers was for Doug Weight, Tony Amonte, Alexei Kovalev, John Vanbiesbrouck and three first round draft picks (1993, 1994 & 1995) and $12 million. The deal was ruled invalid by an arbitrator who awarded Lindros to Philadelphia

Both Philly and NYR basically sent enough players for Lindros to make the Avs(Nord at the time) an automatic playoff team.

SICK! To think that Gretzky was traded with Marty McSorley and Mike Krushelnyski by the Oilers to the Los Angeles Kings for Jimmy Carson, Martin Gelinas, $15-million cash, and the Kings' first-round draft picks in 1989 (Jason Soules), 1991 (Tyler Wright), and 1993 (Jason Arnott).

That trade was comparable to a trade for arguably the greatest player in hockey history and Lindros had yet to play a professional game!

I wouldn't mind him in Edmonton for the right price. Lowe could set up a fair base salary and lay it thick with incentives. I think he would look good with Hemsky. I would say, if healthy and playing a full year, Lindros could have 40+ goals in Edmonton. Hemsky gave Smyth 30+ before he left, and Lindros is a much better "sniper" than Smyth ever could be.

And Willus, you are dead right. He does not play that angry style of hockey that made him so great in the early part of his career. It's too bad, because he could still be very effective.

And Stastny, I hate pick on you, but what are you thinking?? Without the Avs(Nordiques) trading Lindros they may have not won a Cup at all. Lindros was traded by the Quebec Nordiques to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Philadelphia's 1993 1st round draft choice, Philadelphia's 1994 1st round draft choice and $15,000,000. The 93 1st round choice turned out to be Jocelyn Thibault who they used in the trade for Roy. So looking through the chain of events, the Lindros trade brought the biggest reasons they won the Cup with the exception of Sakic. Plus it gave them an extra $15 million to spend in a pre-cap era. One could argue that he Lindros did win the Cup for Colorado but they didn't put his name on it!

It would be good for him to have another good season before he retires and hopefully he won't ask for too much. But if he doesn't play well, then he will look really bad.

If he could learn to keep his friggin head up he could probably play and contribute for another 5 seasons. I don't think he has the passion anymore though. He plays very tentatively now too. Like he's expecting to get hurt. It's too bad really. The guy could still be a top 5 player in the league if he wanted.
Great idea Pucknuts. I think he would be fantastic for Edmonton. That's a team that he could become that premiere player again with.

I think he still has a couple of seasons left in him, a 20 goal season could help some teams. Edmonton comes to mind, what do you think Beans...

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

I think he is good for 1 more season but after that I think you should call it quits.

Lindros is my least favorite player ever, he could have gotten the avs another cup, if he doesn't have one yet its his own fault

avs are gonna win the cup this year

I think he has another season or two in him. The problem is no one want him for any kind of reasonable contract. And c'mon, this is Eric Lindros. At one time he was worth more than the entire Quebec Nordiques. He couldn't possibly work for anything less than a couple mill a year!
