Which of the following unrestricted free agents do you feel still deserves a chance with another team, if only for a year, and why?

You need guys like Avery. Carter isn't really Avery Light. That would probably be giving him too much credit at this point.

Sean Avery plays the instigator part in the NHL as good as anyone today. He may not throw up big numbers, but if you want a guy to stir the pot, there are few if any who are better.
He's the perfect example of a guy you hate on the other team but love on your team.
And Carter had a chance with Edmonton this year. His dreadlocks did not stop him from getting concussed in training camp though.

That's not saying very much because Avery isn't that good to begin with.

Anson Carter, the guy can score, he can hit and he can pass and he's not that old. He's pretty much a worse version of Sean Avery, which can be useful. |

Hmmm.... we're thinking alike here, guys. I was thinking Edmonton, too. A physically small team (by comparison) with a long history of taking guys who would be considered "troubled" for some reason or another.
Now, would he go considering he's been in the big cities his entire career (not to mention a certain shunning of a small market awhile back)? I'm not sure he would (not because he's in a position to pick and choose, though). His involvement with the NHLPA might be a more significant goal for him right now. |

I agree that Lindros would thrive in Edmonton. A $1 million contract for 1 year, with incentives based on production and games played would be awesome.
Wait, MacTavish is the coach. Lindros would never play on the same line in consecutive shifts and he would make a defensive mistake and go to the 3rd and 4th line for the rest of the year.
Ok, Kidding aside, I agree that Lindros still has a big positive side to a team that lacks a little toughness. I also think that Lindros is a pretty decent leader in the dressing room.

I'd say Lindros. i think on the right team he could make a significant impact. But it would have to be the right team. One that would give him a chance to play and also one that could get him motivated. I honestly think he would thrive in Edmonton. Just a hunch.

Anson Carter was given a shot in Edmonton, and recieved a concussion in the pre season against Toronto.
I looked for an update on him but I do not see anything, he may still be injured...

I think Anson Carter deserves another chance. He proved that he can score when he's on a line with a playmaker.

I picked Lindros, and here's why: I think the guy could still be useful to a team looking for a big power forward. On the off chance that he plays more than 40 games, he's worth signing to a million dollar (or less)contract. I saw him play with Dallas a few times last year, and he was under-utilized. When he was on the ice, he was, at times, still dominating (if not on the scoresheet, in the corners, etc.). He'll never score more than 50 points again in a season, but I think he could still make a difference in a close game now and then. |
