The finger has been pointed at Luongo lately for the Vancouver Canucks recent slump (4-5-1 in their last 10) Is goaltender Roberto Luongo really at fault? |

tbar is right....look at the game vs dallas plenty of chances to score and if we had lou in net we probably would of won...but instead he was in florida with his wife. he may not be the one to blame for the entire season ( it is obvious we need someone other then the twins to put up points) but as of late he hasnt been playing well and he sure would of helped last night, so he should take some of the blame |

He may be the best goalie in the league but if the management has decided that their approach to winning is goaltending and Luongo is not winning games then it is his fault! He needs to be better than average to win on that team! Even when Kiprusoff was sucking the flames managed to go better than 500. because the management decided not to carry all their eggs in one basket. I'm sure Luongo knows that he is the Canucks approach |

I do not agree he is the reason, the offense has to "steal" a game some time. Usually a team needs a goalie who can "steal" a game, well the Canucks need an offense that can steal a game. |

Hey Mapleridge Mike - Cool name.....good choice. I have never been out to BC but hope to get there in the near future.....maybe this year. Wouldn't Matts fit in really well out there? Your offense would come up a notch and I can attest, this guy is the consumate Captain. This guy could become the straw that stirs the drink out there for you guys. I am personally in favor if he has to go somewhere that it is there. Luongo? This guy is a franchise keeper.....I am not sure what the problem is with him, if any? |

If Canucks had a little offense going on a consistent basis we wouldn't have this problem. First of all, we have no captain. They all stand around and watch and hope Luongo will come through, it's embarrassing at times. |

Even if Lou is not playing well it is not his fault. He wins games for them all the time when hes playing bad the players need to find a way to win for him. |

We all agree he is not to blame. But is it his fault? Has he been (whether he should be blamed or not, which we all agree he should not) the reason they are losing? Or has everyone been slumping lately.

Come on Nash, you know that he has blown many games for them! With Lecavalier astronomical point production, it is almost unfathomable to think that they could lose, much less have more points against than for! When you let in more than two goals a game consistently, you can not tell me it is not your fault. He isnt facing considerably, if any, more shots than other 'tenders in the league.
If you recall, he was a problem for them last year as well.

It wasn't Holmqvist, they brought up like two other goalies and the same thing happened. Tampa just isn't a good enough team.

Technically speaking, yes he is the problem. No, it is not his fault, but yes, he is the problem. When he does not play next to perfect goaltending, they lose. Is it his fault? Eat your heart out those who say it is. Naslund and Sedin twins, wake up! How do you say that in Swedish, it might have more of an effect... 
Of course they are losing because he is not playing the way he was. But what the heck do you want from this guy, he has been on his head making saves while the rest of the Canucks have been scrambling like chickens without a head.

Canucks problems are deeper than a little slump by Luongo! Lack of secondary scoring and injuries to key defencemen are bigger issues!! |

Statistically speak, Luongo has been a little bit worse in the past 10 games than he was in the previous 30 that he played.
First 30 games
18-8-4
.932 save percentage
29.9 shots against/game
27.8 saves/game
2.01 goals against per game
Last 10 Games
4-6-0
.902 save percentage
27.8 shots against/game
25.1 saves/game
2.70 goals against per game.
So, statically speaking he has been a little worse, but not horrible. Not bad enough in my mind to say it's all his fault.
The thing is that we all know that Vancouver lives and die with Luongo. If he is anything less than stellar, Vancouver is is danger of losing. Geez, even when he plays amazing Vancouver can still lose.

it is never a goalies fault a team is loseing first of all,,, secondly you cant blame the gguy for not playing like a god all the time ,,, so hes playing like a normal goalie for onece in his career....

Vancouver needs some more offense.. Maybe a stronger 2nd line, or just someone to center for Nazzy. Lou is still good and is not to blame for much of the Canucks woes.

well as a leaf fan i never really watch the canucks but ive been hearing his g.aa has been bad lately. i dont think its nessescarily his fault but hes in a bit of a slump but every goalie goes through it every year and he'll be back to his old self soon

last time I checked goalies do not supply offense. course,with the Sedin sisters on your team,maybe they should pay Luongo more and let him try be offense too. |
