Posted - 02/07/2008 : 06:11:43 Some of these options may seem far fetched and rely on their teams continuing good play, but if you have better suggestions, let's hear it.
Honourable mentions in my books go to:
Kovalev - Leading Mtl to a possible conf title Brodeur - Still able to backstop NJ into the playoffs while all the pieces fall around him Lundqvist - The only reason why this team is 7th in the standings (though play of late has not been stellar) Tim Thomas - Doing what Lundqvist is doing for the Bruins but on a worse team Thornton - Is in 44% of the O, next player has 1/2 the points (but I think Nabokov is more deserving) Getzlaf - Leading a powerful Anaheim team Iginla - Driving force on Calgary, what's the record when he doesn't score or get a point?
There's probably others, but there you go my two cents...

Posted - 02/07/2008 : 06:45:40 Well the poll only had eight slots (the honourable mentions are in no particular order), I love iggy, don't get me wrong, but I think he has a stronger supporting cast with Juice, Tanguay, Langkow, Phaneuf, Kipper, amongst others, and as you said he hasn't scored in 10 games but they're still 5-4-1.
I just don't know who I'd take off the original list. Odds are though he'll get more MVP votes at the end of the year then some of the guys on my list. |

Posted - 02/07/2008 : 06:35:07 I voted Ovie...Washington was last in east at one point and now they are division leaders.
I don't understand why Iginla only gets "honorable mention" though. He is top 5 in league scoring (even after going 10 games without a goal) and leads the flames every night offensively, physically and on the bench. Does everything for that team and is a the reason why they are fighting for top of the division still. |
