There are only about 10-11 games left for every team in the NHL. Keeping this in mind, which team(s) from the East will get in, and who will miss out on the big dance?

If there are any other scenario's that you have, feel free to comment.

I dont think Florida has what it takes to even squeek in when it gets down to the nitty gritty.

They dont have any depth on their roster and not good enough goaltending to make a splash right now.

Yea Andy, the Holmoka comment was in poor taste. I apologize to everyone for that. It just came out as I was madly typing out my rant and didn't really see the gravity of it until I read your post. I was just interested in making a strong statement and it over stated my point. Sorry everyone.

Antro - not sure I'd go as far as the Homolka comment, but I can relate.

What is already starting to make me feel a little weasy in the stomach is the "we've had 15 years of hard times in Montreal line" that seems to be becoming a theme amongst Hab fans and members of the organization as they march towards what really could be yet another frigg'n Cup for them. 15 years of hard times! Come on! Kirk Muller, who I'm sure is otherwise a really nice guy, said something like that on an interview with Kypros yesterday. To make it even worse, he said "Just like you guys in Toronto...", as if the comparison between the greed, avarice and arrogance of a Montreal fan complaining about having to wait 15 years for a Cup can be compared to the real agony of a Toronto fan.

Hmmm, I really am bitter about the prospect of yet another Montreal cup, aren't I!

But really, I mean what type of disconnect with reality do Montrealers have? Ahhhhhhh poor little Montreal fans! A whole 15 years without a Cup. The violins are a playing! How could you possibly have dealt with that? Clearly you are entitled to at least one Cup every decade, and screw the ten year old, twenty year old, thrirty year old, and worst of all forty year old and over fans in Chicago, Boston, Toronto, St. Louis, Buffalo ... who are waiting to celebrate one freaking Cup!

Oh well, as my grade four history teacher used to say, "Nobody ever told you life was fair"

Sincerely,

A guy who once totally lost interest in an otherwise stunning girl once he found out she was a Habs fan

Leafs, Playoffs this year?!?!

Wow, I'm getting frustrated today. This poll doesn't make sense. You can't select more than one option to vote. I believe I already locked this earlier today when it was posted by a guest. I'll leave this one open as there is a good discussion going on it. But try and make polls that will actually tell you something. This one won't.

I really think that with all the other teams in the east falling like flies that the Habs are the class of the east at the moment. I quite truthfully, and believe me, it makes me want to vomit saying this, I think the Habs will advance out of the east to the Stanley Cup finals. I do think the west will win it though? Everyone's best hope against them is Pittsburg I think? The Crosby injury is becoming a problem for sure and Ottawa is just so muddled at the moment and Alfresson's hip injury sounds chronic to me? It just seems that every so many years there is a year when the Habs get it together at just the right time and that time is when all the really good teams that can usually crush them fall apart. The last time this happened was in 1993, their last cup. This occurance, like I have stated before is my worst nightmare and I pray everynight that it does not happen. I would rather see Karla Homolka win the lottery than the Montreal Canadiens win the Stanley Cup. Even their use of our great country's name in their monicker makes me cringe. Stupid damn traitor separatist crap artists. Just thinking about it has me off the bathroom.....AAAAAAAAGH!!!!

I am not truely sold on Les Habitants going far at all in this years playoffs.

I think as a team they still have a lot of growing to do in order to even make it past the first round of the playoffs.

I also think that the Leafs could take them in a playoff series this year.

Guest, i disagree with you. I am not a Leafs fan but i think they could take the Habs in a playoff series. This year the Leafs are 3-1-2 against the Habs and haven't played them since February 7. So since Toronto has been hot, they haven't played the Habs, yet they still had success against them. If you watch some of the games, Toronto always seems to play its best hockey against the Canadians. They actually seem to play with heart and they usually outplay them! Now, with that being said, i really don't think the Leafs are going to make the playoffs so your dear Habs are safe.

LEAFS SUCK!!!!

They wouldn't have a chance against Montreal in a 7 game series. In fact they don't even have a chance of making the playoffs. Too bad with all this snow they won't even get a head start swinging the clubs.

Could be Boston and Philly out and Washington Florida or Toronto in. It is getting very interesting for sure. It would really be great if Toronto got in and kicked Montreal's asses out of there in the first round. That would be almost as good as winning the Cup. On second thought, it would be better than winning the Cup. After all, they lost the battle on the Plains of Abraham, why not another trouncing on the ice of the Montreal arena (whatever they call it now)?

Well it looks like the Leafs won again tonight. Only 5 back now. Washington did win but it looks like Buffalo is heading for a loss. Its tough to tell right now.

As much as it pains me to say, I do not think its the Leafs year this year.

The gap to make up is to big and there are to many teams to chase.

But hey, im not giving up all hope!!!
