one for the most offensive [doesn't really have to be most pt.] and the other for the best defensive d-man.
Lidstrom would win both.

No way ther a better shut down d-man than Lidstrom in the NHL.
I must of forgot to log on and i came in as a guest.Back to Lidstrom winning both. My answer could have been taken the wrong way. I say that there are at least 5 d-men that are better than Lidstrom on the defensive part of the game .So no Lidstrom would not win both. On my earlier post a few above i mentained 2 awards-1 for best defensive and 1 for best offensive. I would like to change that a bit. I would rather see 1 for the best defensive d-man for that yr and 1 for the best all around d-man for the yr.The all around would replace the best offensive.

Possibly for assist. You have the rocket for goals lets have the Gretzky for assist. Also have two for defensemen , one for the most offensive [doesn't really have to be most pt.] and the other for the best defensive d-man.

Posted - 04/02/2008 : 18:33:34 Immediately after posting this, I thought that we could do a retake of the mid-season awards ran by Beans, and try to do it for the intangibles. This poll is still useful though, as I think this is a topic unto itself. But to really get your noses dirty, check out the Awards Ceremony over here: http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3862

Posted - 04/02/2008 : 18:17:51 This is interesting Alex. I like the idea of this topic.
But, I dont see any of these even being considered. All of the awards right now are the classic ones. This one, if created would just cause an uproar from the NHL and its players.
I tried to explain it best I could. Dont know if what I was thinking in my head was what I wrote down.
