Posted - 11/06/2008 : 11:52:42 As the others have said, I think the answer is the rookie not on the list.
Luke Schenn. He is not playing like a 18 or 19 year old player, he is demonstrating the skill and patience of a rookie d-man in my opinion.
One of my concerns is that I hope he does not get played too hard, too fast, therefore jepordizing his career longterm.
I think of how GIlmore and Clarke had to carry the team on thier backs and wonder if they did no have so much pressure on them, if they would have had any more productive years left.
I hope that Luke does not get burned out. He could be the next leader for our club.

Posted - 10/25/2008 : 13:04:13 Best young star in T.O. is easily Schenn, kid is already playing like a stud on the blueline. A definite all star one day, if he keeps up his stellar play and the Leafs don't send if back to junior, he should be a Calder candidate. your topic is best young star and your poll says best player in T.O. in 5 yrs. Two different topics? Best in 5 yrs is to far off to say given trades, draft, and free agency, several players will come and go. Of todays roster the best in 5 years again is Schenn, only 18 yrs old and playing better than most 25 yr old Dmen in the league. Even non leaf fans should be impressed. |
