Wouldnt it be cool if the NHL had an expansion draft and all teams would pick in a pool of every nhl player and reshuffle all the teams i know it wont happen because some teams just started rebuilding but it would be cool seeing for example ovechikin on the leafs or crosby on the stars

That's cool if you're playing NHL 04

True enough, Doan is 32, and Jokinen is 30, but this isn't a prospect draft. Doan or Jokinen would help your team in a immediately impactful way for 4-6 years. You could pass that over for a Turris or a Boedker, but I ask why not poach a really dominant player who could be your captain now for NOTHING. You would probably recieve your high draft pick anyways and possibly get Tavares. At worst you could trade them at the next deadline for multiple draft picks if you really want to rebuild with all young guns. I don't see too many teams winning the cup with an average age below 25.

If Turris and Boedker did go 1-2 in whatever order, that make a leafs fan pretty happy to get a Doan or a Jokinen without giving anything up.

Of course I'm not even sure how that sort of draft would work, perhaps everyone would get a shot at the 1st pick and not just the bottom X teams.

Does anyone know how this situation would play out?

I would have to assume that Doan wouldn't be the first pick. If you're one of the bottom teams you're in a rebuilding phase. Why would you select someone who in all likely hood is currently peaking and has nowhere to go but down.

Put Nashville in the equation and it get's even more exciting, I mean for immediate impact who would you choose from this group:

Doan
Jokinen
Weber

These scenarios are the coolest to think about, If Phx alone were to bust look at the players to be picked up:

Doan, Jokinen, Mueller, Boedker, Turris, Hanzal, Carcillo, Jovo, Yandle, Brzgalov, Reinprecht, Sauer, and prospects Tikhonov, Lisin, Montoya, etc...

If you take the bottom teams in (current) order, they could get:

NYI - Doan
ATL - Jokinen
OTT - Boedker
TOR - Turris
STL - Hanzal
TB - Jovo
NSH - Yandle
LA - Bryzgalov

Or whatever... but either way that would be an incredible impact for those teams... even LA at the 8th spot possibly getting the no.1 goalie they need. (he'd probably go around the STL slot, but I love to imagine what LA could do with an upgrade between the pipes, so excuse the bias)

I just peed myself thinking about Ovechkin as a leaf....

There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E".

What you mean guest 0837 is a fantasy draft. Where all players are put in a pool and teams are randomly put in order to pick. However this only happens in EA Sports NHL games. Thanks for picturing Crosby on the stars I appreciate that.

From what I heard, it was Basillie that backed out of the Nashville deal, not the other way around. But who really knows for sure.

I wouldn't like to see a full dispersal draft, but if a couple of teams folded and there was a draft of 3-4 teams, every team in the league would improve just about over night.

It would be awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it absolutely hilarious how badly Nashville is doing financially right now! Balsillie all but had a deal for them but they just didn't wanna sell to him. Now they are going bankrupt! very ironic!

It isn't as far fetched as it seems (to an extent). There's been rumblings that Phoenix and Nashville aren't long for this world. If they folded there could very well be a draft to see who received the newly available players. Or they could go to the highest bidder. Either way it's all speculation and cooler talk. Lot's of good young players to be had on both teams. Imagine the Islanders lucking into Turris on top of a first over all pick.

Uhhh....no?.....maybe?.....WTF??

And geez, don't ever mention Ovechkin and the Leafs being united, even in this fantasitical sense!!

There would be way too many mothers out there having to unneccesarily wash the soiled sheets of the multitudes of Leaf lovers out there!! Unless of course you count the ones who are past adolesence....All 3 or 4 of them, would have to wash their own sheets!!!!
