Posted - 04/03/2009 : 08:14:47 Apparently the class of the college FA pool, Tyler Bozak, has agreed to terms with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs were 1 of 4 teams in the running for Bozak, 23, and were able to out maneuvere(sp?) The Ottawa Senators, The Anaheim Ducks and The Colorado Avalanche. He had eight goals and 28 assists in 43 games this season, while missing a portion of games due to injury.
I was listening to Dregar and Watters yesterday afternoon and they had the Denver University head coach on the show where he drew comparisons of Bozak to Colorado centre Paul Stastny.
The Leafs, it seems, have gotten a jump on the NHL entry draft and have begun to restock the prospect pool. With a first round pick upcoming in June as well as 2 more in the top 50, Burke should enter next season with a small bounty of solid prospects.
Any thoughts? (Feel free to rip on Burke 7752, I know you want to!)

Posted - 04/07/2009 : 12:12:03 Why so much cinicism boys? You're "under new management" now. Let the past stay in the past and let's have a discussion about the buds' prospects. It's no wonder people are always ripping the Leafs, because Leaf fans do this better than anyone.
Seriously, give the system a chance to work. Burke may be a giant sized jerk but the good thing is that he won't take any crap from anyone. Is he going to make some bad moves? probably, every GM does but ultimately he will perform a good mix of build and buy. I am NOT a Leafs fan but I think in 2 years the Leafs will be back in the playoffs and have a few top-notched prospects. And in 4 years they will have the potential to go deep. It won't happen over night, but it will happen if the yahoos let him do his job. |

Posted - 04/06/2009 : 09:15:40 c'mon guys, Quinn and Ferguson aren't running this show anymore. Hell, it's not even Fletch. Burkie is on a roll.
Just pointing this out, im not trying to hype this guy like he is a bonifide 1st line NHLer, just want to talk about some good depth finally coming into the organization.

Meh, they will trade him for Andrew Raycroft or something stupid, Toronto hates holding on to good prospects.
Bahaha SO true! Maybe Owen Nolan will become available or something.
Seriously though, I've got faith in Burke, he knows what he's doing. |

Posted - 04/04/2009 : 13:29:42 Great move, Toronto used to hate holding on to good prospects, this is a new Toronto get used to it, they will be very competitive in 2010-2011 season. |

Posted - 04/03/2009 : 08:36:23 Solid prospect, for sure. Great pick-up.
I'll wait until Burke signs Bouwmeester and trades for a first line center or power forward . . . then, I'll get excited!
