My dark horse would be Colorado. Huge increase on dmen, which was IMO Colorados biggest weakness last year outside of injuries. Too bad about Sakic, but this team has the most cap space to spend and I think Duchene will play and play well. Colorado just needs 1 or 2 more forwards. Big ? mark on Anderson. Can he repeat what did last year. If he does this team does well.
I wouldnt be surprised to see calgary trade for Harding. I dont remember who Minnesota picked up, but im pretty sure hes the backup now.

1st - Vancouver - Lou will stay healthy for a whole year but we do have a terrible schedule (14 game road trip because of the olympics)
2nd - Calgary - Solid team but they have spent to much on 7 players, not much of a supporting cast especially for kipper
3rd - Minnesota - have a chance of finishing anywhere in this division but i fell they will finish just a little behind van and calgary but should still make the playoffs
4th - Edmonton - may be different if they end up landing heatley depends what they give up though
5th - Colorado - Good young team but their building for the future no sakic no smyth and still no goalie. |

This division will be a tough one. 5 teams, that if all goes well, can make a real push for the top (even Minny). However, Vancouver and Calgary will duke it out for top spots. This year, the Flames won't choke, so going with the Flames. Stellar D, Iggy up front and Kipper in net, how can you not?
Van-city....Bobby-Lu will be solid for you, but offensively, and even defensively, really relying on your captain too much. They'll still finish with a playoff spot though...

I honestly beleive Vancouver will win it. They won it when Luongo was injured for an extended period of time, so if hes healthy the whole year, I beleive they win it. But like beans said, I wouldnt be surprised to see Calgary Minnesota or Edmonton win it either

Roll a die. It's been like that for the past 4-5 years. The spread between 1st and 5th in the NW is rarely more than 5 games. Calgary and Vacouver are the front runners, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Edmonton or Minny there either. The only team I really see in a transition is Colorado. I think they lost their identity with Sakic retiring as well as Smyth getting traded.
As an Oiler fan, I will always say the Oilers. But any team but Colorado would not surprise me. |
