The NHL announced a new monthly leadership award in honor of Mark Messier. They will also award a 'Leader of the Year'. Who is your top leader so far?

I said Jagr. A great player and a great leader.

Not only is Sundin the best player on the Leafs right now he also is the dressing room leader the team so desperately needs right now he defiantly deserves the reward

None of them are from Edmonton, and the Calgary Flames are basically the worst team in the league.

it is also community involvement.

But remember Messier won most of his cups with Edmonton.

Yeah I guess the award is an on and off the ice thing. Shanahan had a lot to do with the Competition Committee, and plus he plays in New York. With Messier selecting the winner each month I bet that there will be strong Eastern flavour to this award.

You're right I havn't watched Iginla carry the Flames..... Kipper, on the other hand, has been doing a excellent job of carrying them.

Sundin is a great player and leader but the Leafs seem to be winning when hes hurt. That would not be the case with the Flames if Iggy went down.

Mats all the way. Toronto is doing way better than anyone expected them to.
