Shanahan has already proved himslef earlier in his career "Trevman12" so its Malkin cause he is for real and a rising talent.

Kozlov did the unexpected this season, replace all star center Savard, he is in the top 10 in the league in scoring. Nobody saw this coming, Kozlov was supposed to be the #3 center, but came out on top. Last year, the player who proved himself most was Shawn Horcoff, who went from 4th line to 1st line.

I think it's open to interpretation. for example:

Shanahan was said to be too old and people weren't sure if he could have great success on a new team

Malkin was the young stud with everything to prove. And after Crosby and Ovechkin, could he really live up to the bar they set for him?

Sundin is getting old and his team was believed to be a bunch of nobody's who even a great leader couldn't guide to victory

Tucker...well...it's tucker

Jagr has something to prove every year. I think everyone thinks one of these years he'll implode

and so on...I think it's a good question.
