Which team are you sick of hearing about? Their glory days are behind them but their fans still cheer for them as if they won the Cup last night. |

Posted - 12/01/2006 : 19:38:26 If you are basing this question historically, how could you say the Oilers are over rated?? They had many of the top players in the NHL in thier system and have won the cups(historically) to back it up. During those dynasty years, they drafted most of those players as well. Kurri, Messier, Anderson, Coffey, all Edmonton Draft picks. All but Anderson in the Hall of Fame. Since the first expansion (in '67) what teams have the most Cups?? Montreal with 9, then the Oilers with 5, Islanders with 4, Detroit and New Jersey with 3.
If they are over-rated, then back it up?? Historically speaking. |

BTW, I think it'd be funny if another NHL team was added called the New Orleans Americains |

I do find it ironic though where it originated. |

Posted - 11/17/2006 : 14:50:27 This is an easy one for me.
Since expansion, every team in the league has made it Stanley Cup Finals at least once, except for two. (This excludes expansion teams of the 90's - and a few of them have made it!)
The Phoenix Coyotes/Winnipeg Jets and, surprise, the Toronto Make-Me-Laughs. Yet their fans are as adamant that the "Leafs rule" as any fan of any professional team in the world. For the record, every Canadian team has been to the Finals at least twice since 1980, except "expansion" Ottawa. The Leafs haven't "ruled" since 1967, long before most of you were born.
The CBC worships them, TSN (The Toronto Sports Network) leads with them even at 2:00am Eastern Time, and Sportsnet does more stories on Leafs teams and players than any other, and that includes Sportsnet West and Pacific. Hell, Torontonians don't even know the plural of Leaf. Perhaps that obvious brain power is why they cheer so vehemently for them.
The Leafs sucks. Period.
