Posted - 10/21/2009 : 07:48:09 Chara will never reach 1000 pts. Look at Chara's stats vs. Lidstrom's stats. Lidstrom's stats:http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8465009 Chara's stats: http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8457063 In the past 17 years, Lidstrom only twice has been below 50 pts, one of which was the 94/95 season, where he only played 43 NHL games, and still got 26pts. Chara? In the last 8 years, he has only had 2 seasons where he got 50 pts. So Chara a 1000pt player? No way. To reach 1000 pts in around the same time he would have to score no less than 61pts every season for the next 11years. NO WAY. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. NOT CHARA! |

Posted - 10/20/2009 : 23:02:19 I think Chara can hit the 1000 mark.
Lucic isn't a defenseman lol. And he still won't hit 1000.

Posted - 10/17/2009 : 08:54:22 Logically speaking, he will get 60ish points this season. That would put him ahead of Potvin. However, there are some pretty strong rumors that are saying he is planning on retiring at the end of this season when his contract is up.
Even if he chooses to stay keep playing, he would need 3-4 more good seasons of 50ish points to get ahead of Murphy. I don't see either Lidstrom playing that long or producing that much for the next 4 years. One can even see today that he is not the player he was 3-5 years ago. Still great. Still one of the best out there. But not as good.
He will finsih ahead of Potvin but behind Murphy.
More impressive is that Lidstrom is only the 8th defensemen to hit the 1000 mark. To put that into perspective, the next closest active defensemen in scoring are Rob Blake (1207 games, 750 points), Mathieu Schneider (1264 games, 734 points), Scott Neidermayer (1189, 695 points) and Sergei Gonchar (936 games, 639 points).
These guys will all retire before the hit 1000. Meaning it is going to be a long, long time before we see a 1000 point defenseman again. |
