I didn't want to hijack anyone else's Trivia threads so I decided to post a few questions of my own. Cheers.

1) Who holds the record for most goals in a single Stanley Cup game? How many goals did he score?

2) What was the single highest scoring Stanley Cup game ever? (Who was playing and what was the final score?)

3) Who is the youngest player to ever play in a Stanley Cup game? What was his name?

4) Who is the only goaltender to have his name appear on the Stanley Cup as the captain of a Cup-winning team?

Nicely done!

Also a canadian amateur boxing champ, lacrosse star..etc.
He boxed an exhibition match with against Jack Dempsey, who when the match happened, was the current Heavyweight Champion.
He was called the Canadian 'Jim Thorpe', very interesting fella.

Hmmm, i feel dumb now. I don't know this one either. Guess i'll have to leave it for Beans?
fat_elvis_rocked Posted - 04/06/2010 : 13:18:08
Okay, here's one for ya.....pretty sure Beans will know this one, so let's see if anyone gets it first, may be easy, we'll see....

I have won a Grey Cup and the Stanley Cup, and I was tough enough to fight the heavyweight champion of the world,

Who am I?
Alex116 Posted - 04/06/2010 : 10:21:47
I actually remember Mean Gene, an announcer, right? Didn't follow wrestling for long but did watch it for a few years in my early teens.

Like Beans, had never heard of the son and certainly had no idea he'd been drafted!

Todd Okerlund, drafted by the Islanders in 1982, I believe.

One of those trivial bits of fluff, I remember watching one of the wrestling programs back then, must have been draft time in 82' because they actually congratulated Mean Gene on the broadcast for his son getting drafted, and for some reason it stuck in my head. Go figure, if my wife asks me to stop and get 3 things from the grocery store, I'll always forget something, yet I remember this stuff.....

Mean Gene WASN'T a wrestler, yet is in the WWE Hall Of Fame....
fat_elvis_rocked Posted - 04/06/2010 : 00:01:06
His dad's nickname was 'Mean Gene'.
fat_elvis_rocked Posted - 04/05/2010 : 22:19:11
Okay, first hint, he played on a United States Olympic team.

Also my bad, off the top of my head was off just a wee bit, I went and checked my memory and I had the draft position wrong, substantially, he was an 8th rounder 168 overall and played 4 games in the NHL....hope that makes it easier
Alex116 Posted - 04/05/2010 : 17:08:21
F_E, i hate wrestling! Oh, and i have no idea of who the answer to your question is?

Anyone?

It's amazing the trivia we pick up throughout life, I actually did know that one, just didn't see the question soon enough.

I've got one of the top of my head that's even more obscure;

This player is the son of a famous WWE personality and was drafted in the secound round, 24th overall, in his draft year. He didn't make it to the NHL, but his Dad did make the WWE Hall of Fame.

Sorry boys, the above is me.....gotta remember to check the sign in.

If it's actually a baseball question, then i'm obviously way off!

In which case, i'll say Dustin Pedroia, another guess!!!

Yes it was a trick question it was Zdeno Chara

WHo was the last player to get 6 hits at Fenway park?
Alex116 Posted - 04/02/2010 : 12:58:04
Had zero clue, was gonna check google to see who it was (wasn't gonna give it away though, just curious) but now that i see Glavine's name, it rings a bell. I'm assuming it's correct? If it is, that's pretty freakin' amazing! Wonder what he'd have done on the ice?

Alright, I read a great piece of trivia. Try to figure this out without the help of google.

I was drafted by the LA Kings 2 rounds ahead of Brett Hull and 5 rounds ahead of Luc Robitaille(both HOFer's) in 1984. I was also drafted into a different sport that same year. I decided to persue this other sport and went on to win various awards and championships and retired as one of the best at my position in the history of my sport.

Who am I???

Tom Glavine? the MLB pitcher?

Good answer with Ryan Smyth, Guest 6581, how did we miss him?

Anyway, Alex, you make a good point.

Keep the trivia coming.
Alex116 Posted - 02/03/2010 : 07:45:00
From usingenglish.com:

Definition:
A;E;I;O;U; & Y are the English vowels, although Y can also behave as a consonant when it is at the beginning of a word.

A vowel is a sound where air coming from the lungs is not blocked by the mouth or throat.

All normal English words contain at least one vowel.

Beans wins
Guest6581 Posted - 02/03/2010 : 06:55:52
in that case, Ryan Smyth would also qualify as an answer ;)
Alex116 Posted - 02/02/2010 : 19:41:48
Isn't there a rule that every word has to have at least one vowel in it, therefore the "sometimes Y" rule, making Y a vowel a times? I dunno, i don't care either really. Good on you to have this answer (Smyhr). I will forever reword my trivia question to say "Name an NHLer who has....." now that you've enlightened me to Mr. Smyhr!
Guest4988 Posted - 02/02/2010 : 19:07:19
I don't know Alex, the letter "y" is a consonant, so I think he's got to be included. Maybe the question has two answers or perhaps the player only has five letters in his name, making Smyhr the only correct answer ????
Alex116 Posted - 01/30/2010 : 10:27:31
Beans, BINGO! Nice job.

Guest 4988, hmmmm...i like your thinking, never thought of him and only passing on a trivia question i've heard before but maybe the "sometimes y" thing kills your response?
Guest4988 Posted - 01/30/2010 : 08:58:55
What about Paul Smyhr ? He was a defenceman who played in the 70's with the California Golden Seals and perhaps a few more teams.
Beans15 Posted - 01/30/2010 : 07:44:12
Ugh, The Hip. 2nd worst piece of Canadiana ever! They would still be playing in bars around Kingston without the CRTC's 40% mandatory content on all radio! As Nickelback would still be in Hanna where they belong.

Alex, I believe that player to be big bad Dave McLlwain.
Alex116 Posted - 01/30/2010 : 02:48:41
Name the only (i think) NHLer with a surname containing 5 straight consonants....
leigh Posted - 01/29/2010 : 23:52:02
the hip wrote "50 mission cap" about him...

Bill Barilko disappeared that summer
He was on a fishing trip
The last goal he ever scored won the Leafs the cup
They didn't win another until 1962 the year he was discovered
I stole this from a hockey card I keep tucked up under
My fifty mission cap I worked it in to look like that

Great song!!!
