Posted - 03/03/2007 : 18:37:09 I was thinking maybe it would be good to have a separate thread for discussing or commenting on the draft and the other one strictly for the draft picks. It would make it easier to keep track of the picks and where everyone is at. Thoughts? If not just lock this one up. |

If anyone wants to respond to this, the best place would be the GOAT discussion thread in the Hockey History forum.
Your post in the User Poll about this was a good point--since members here are from different generations, the players they select will reflect that for the most part. We younger members don't know all the greats from the 60s or 70s off the tops of our heads, but we know who's on fire right now, and of our time, they are the greatest. Maybe we should've had an Over 25 GOAT draft and an under 25 GOAT draft, lol.
That would have made it so much easier!

Hey Pucknuts, This has zero to do with hockey but are you a fellow audiophile? I was reading through the trivia stuff and saw your website.
Whats an audiophile?
One who appreciates high end audio equipment and the music it reveals. Most don't realize there are brands other than the mass market garbage. |

I completely disagree with this argument. :) He (they) may be one the most skilled players ever, he may have incredible potential.. but this does not make they anywhere near a GOAT player. Only a potential GOAT player.
IMO of course. |

Posted - 03/19/2007 : 08:07:45 I think that there are far too many players chosen that are far from 'greatest of all time'. How can a player be a G.O.A.T player if they havent had long, productive, careers? |

When the students here get off for spring break in the coming weeks I'll bet it'll be even slower since several of us might go somewhere for a vacation or something. I'll be going to Minnesota and Wisconsin but I'll be bringing my laptop with me so I can still post. |

Yeah, he's a large fellow. I said this awhile back on here somewhere that I saw him play a few years ago in the old timers game and he is a tad overweight, yet you could still see how talented he was. Playing against young fit guys and making them look like children. Granted they are amateurs but still, he's old and pudgy. Seriously he was an amazing player and by and large does not get the credit he deserves. He had the misfortune of playing when Orr and Potvin were in their primes. Always in their shadow. He was Norris runner up 6 times. That's pretty impressive. |

And I wanted the d-men that could play at both ends of the ice as well. That list is even smaller. As for goalies, well.... have you seen my defense? They could stop a tiger tank. I don't even need a goalie. But there are quite a few outstanding goalies available so I'm not real worried.
That's a pretty good strategy. |

Not a bad theory Willus. For me once I had Brodeur as my goalie, any other goalie as a backup will do, only 18 goalies will be selected. As for defence there are a great number still left to go, that is why I stuck with forwards for a while, I was not sure if I could get the GAG line or not, but mission accomplished, now the rest of the team...

Posted - 03/07/2007 : 19:04:23 Willus if your focusing so much on Defense why don't you have a goalie? Or is this a strategy save goalies for last or something. |

Posted - 03/07/2007 : 16:08:47 Sounds like a good idea to me (but my forwards will most likely be jumbled because i don't want to take the time to take left wings, right wings and centers). |

Posted - 03/07/2007 : 16:03:20 After the teams are compiled i suggest we also show the lines we would roll and defensive pairings so we know what everyone was thinking when picking their players. It would be easier to judge the teams that way. Thoughts? |

Posted - 03/07/2007 : 15:54:45 Your right Willus. I do need those kinds of guys. Not so much two way players, but either offensive or defensive. I have a feeling my team would play in alot of 7-6 kind of games. |

Posted - 03/07/2007 : 15:44:40 Wow Beans. You certainly surprised me with that last pick. I knew he'd be chosen, i just didn't think it would be by you. He's the polar opposite of an offensively minded player. |
