Notables:
Gretzky scored 4 goals in the game, all in the third period. An All Star Game record.

Observations on the game:

It was actually a decent game. They were playing pretty hard.

It was fantastic to see Pelle Lindbergh play again. He has to be one of the calmest looking goaltenders.

It was nice to see my memories confirmed about how good Mark Howe was. Of all the great players on the ice for this game, he was the best player. Not Coffey, not Bourque, not Gretzky or Messier. Howe was everywhere. Breaking up plays, setting up plays, rushing the puck up ice, taking shots.

Gretzky scored 4 goals but in all honesty two were quite fluky. Though I'm sure Gretzky fans would tell you he did it on purpose. One shot he flubbed three feet from the goalie and it trickled in. The other was a shot from the point that deflected off Bourque's skate.

My three stars of the game would have been:
Mark Howe
Michel Goulet
Denis Savard

I PVR'd this game and three others they showed this week. The 92, 96 and 97 games. I'll watch the 92 game next and post my thoughts.

Hey, as a Gretzky fan I'll be the first one to say that he had a ton of "fluky" goals. Most great goal scorers get those one's they shouldn't deserve.

How about those Oilers though?? What as the line??

Messier - Gretzky - Kurri
Coffey - Hartsburg
Fuhr

Wow!!

Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!!
