Poll Question:
Based on the NHL's Three nominees for the Vezina trophy, who is the PickupHockey communitee's best Goaltender?

The arena wall in chicago should be credited with a goal.

Choices:

Martin Brodeur
Ilya Bryzgalov
Ryan Miller
None of the above (who?)

I included a None of the Above option for those that disagree with the NHL's nominees.

I whole heartedly agree with Bryz and Miller, Brodeur will be the 'also ran' on this award this year.

Between Bryz and Miller it's a very tough call for me because Miller has a better supporting cast and that can make it harder to really be objective.

In the end Miller gets my vote, but it came basicall down to a coin toss.

Brodeur lead the league in wins, shutouts and games played. I don't think you can take issue with his inclusion on this list of nominees. I mean come on, 77 games played this season? The man is a machine.

That being said, I would agree that he is third among these candidates.

Now Bryz single handedly took a team that was supposed to bottom out the league and brought them in contention for top spot in the west. Miller had a hell of a year, but he can't match that. So: Bryz for vezina.

(can you believe they picked this guy off of waivers?)

It's Ilya Bryzgalov for me.

No disrespect to Miller, but I believe Bryzgalov is the major reason for Phoenix sudden success. Without Bryzy, the Coyotes miss the playoffs, no doubt in my mind.

Miller has played solid as well, of course. But not taking the Olympics in to consideration, I put Bryzgalov's season ahead of Millers by about ".." that much.

The Olympics don't count, if they did, i'd give it to Miller.

I gave my vote for Bryzgalov, no disprespect to the other two this year who have obviously had great seasons.

I just don't see Phoenix in the playoffs with a regular goalie . . . and after seeing more of him in the Detroit series, I am very impressed with his poise.

Give it to Ilya, willya?

Completely, 100%, emphatically agree. I think Miller was as good(not better) in the 1/2 half of the season but Bryzgalov was out of this world in the 2nd half of the year. Not a single player in the top 40 in scoring and a 50 win and 4th overall finish?? You can't do that without a brilliant goalie.
