Poll Question:
Here is a TSN poll for you. In your opinion, which of the following has been the biggest story in the first half of the NHL season?

Honestly, not one of those surprises me.
One thing I do find surprising is that goalies like Tim Thomas, Chris Mason and Ray Emery have shown that they are all starting-goalie caliber. |

What? When would I have implied that? If you have nothing to contribute to the topic, then please refrain from posting.
Think about it, all of the above had already occured, even just a bit. The only thing up there that hadn't already happened was Anaheim's dominance but that was easily foreseeable with the acquisition of Pronger and the "rebirth" of Teemu Selanne. |

I said overzealous officiating. The others, I agree that they come as little surprise. I am however, shocked at the amount of penalties being called. In my opinion it makes for a worse on ice product. The league needs to re-examine its mission to crack down on obstruction. I am all for it but some of the calls are a little much. At least 25% of them are poor calls. |

I think the biggest problem with the officiating is the lack of consistency. Some refs let the game run its course while others follow the rule-enforcement guidelines to a tee. It must be frustrating when you can get away with something one game, then get called for it the next. |

I agree that inconsistency is a major issue. The root of it is the two ref system. No two refs call the game the same way. Players are left to guess. Plus having 4 officials on the already small enough ice surface doesn't help to create any room. |

Hahah lol ....while I am glad that Buffalo is dominant, I picked that choice because I really do think it has been the biggest story so far. I hear about it all the time. |
