It really surprises me that Vanek is not in the starting six.

It was the fans who voted, he's just not a "household name" quite yet. Nor is he on the highlight reels, which is another thing fans base their voting on. Until he becomes the scoring leader or scores "I can't believe he just did that" goals, he won't get voted in.
Many other players could have been voted in instead of Vanek, like any of the Fantastic Four for NYR. |

| Vanek may not be a starter, but three other Sabres are: Ryan Miller, Brian Campbell, and Daniel Briere. The Sabres have more players from their team as starters than any other team. I think Afinogenov should be out there at the start but apparently the fans didn't agree. Come on, Campbell but not Afinogenov? And not Drury, who leads the team in goals? Geez, who voted in this?! |
