Pat Lafontaine, you are correct.

LaFontaine is one of two players in NHL history to skate for all three teams based in the state of New York. The other was former teammate Jason Dawe, although LaFontaine played his entire career in the state of New York while Dawe also played for the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators. LaFontaine once joked about it, saying "I got to play for three great organizations in my career and never once had to buy new license plates."

Well done PuckNuts, your board

Moderator edit:

CM, wait for the answer to leafsfan's question before you ask if he played for the Leafs. If the answer to his question is no than yours is obviously no and that's a wasted question.

Ok I'm really confused, here are the players that have between 800 and 900 career points that are inactive (as per your answers, from hockeydb.com):

86 Ray Ferraro (1984-2002) 898
87 Brad Park (1968-1985) 896
90 Robert "Butch" Goring (1969-1985) 888
91 Bill Barber (1972-1984) 883
92 Dennis Maruk (1975-1989) 878
94 Cliff Ronning (1985-2004) 869
95 Ivan Boldirev (1970-1985) 866
97 Yvan Cournoyer (1963-1979) 863
98 Dean Prentice (1952-1974) 860
99 Tomas Sandstrom (1984-1999) 857

From there, I have isolated the Canadian ones that retired between 84-85 and 89-90 (as per your answers):

86 Ray Ferraro (1984-2002) 898
87 Brad Park (1968-1985) 896
90 Robert "Butch" Goring (1969-1985) 888
91 Bill Barber (1972-1984) 883
92 Dennis Maruk (1975-1989) 878
94 Cliff Ronning (1985-2004) 869
95 Ivan Boldirev (1970-1985) 866
97 Yvan Cournoyer (1963-1979) 863
98 Dean Prentice (1952-1974) 860
99 Tomas Sandstrom (1984-1999) 857

Brad Park was a defenseman and you said your player was a forward. That left:

90 Robert "Butch" Goring (1969-1985) 888
and
92 Dennis Maruk (1975-1989) 878

You said these were both wrong. I know we're only supposed to ask yes or no questions but I've isolated the possibilities and neither is correct so what am I getting wrong here?

Your list of players does not seem complete...

Can I ask why we would be asking about the Eastern Conference, it did not exist at the time this player played...

Ok you know what, it only gave the top 100 inactive players and incorporated the top 40 active players, so the points stopped at >800, my mistake. Carry on.

No problem, but it is difficult to answer some questions that do not pertain to the era that a payler has played. That is why I mentioned the Eastern Conference, it was established in the 1993-94 season, so if someone asked if a player played in the Eastern Conference and he retired in lets say 1970, the answer would be no...

There are some good questions that can narrow it down to the player I have selected...narrow it down to a division and then a team, it should be easy...

Adam Graves?

Also: am I to assume that we're staying mostly mainstream with these players? Like not 1000 point scorers, but recognizable names? Guys like Al Iafrate, Adam Graves, Kevin Stevens, etc etc.

Oh man, I just thought of a great one! I hope my Adam Graves guess was right!!!
