Well, it looks like TB has attempted to solve their goalie issues with Roloson - as opposed to pursuing a supposedly available Nabokov (whether they did pursue is unknown).
Pretty much any goalie is going to be better than what they seem to have this year, but will Roloson provide them what they need to be serious contenders in the East this year?

Roloson has been outstanding this year, looks like NYI's GM is trying for last place Roloson has only 6 wins, but a .916sv% on NYI, he could possibly be the New Years best goalie.

Remember the hype when TB picked up Mike Smith. I mean, there was talk in Dallas back in the day that he would eventually, possibly sooner than later, take over the starter's position (and possibly see Turco moved?).
Was he not the key piece in the trade for Brad Richards? Aside from injury, what has happened to this guy??? |

Could be wrong, (usually am) but this move smells a bit like window dressing to me. TB's goalies are bad no doubt but they've got nobody except Ohlund I can see being of much use on the blue line. Plenty of offensive talent in the defense corp but who plays defense? Would have to say this problem came from dumping money on Simon Gagne who they really never needed. Also probably of expecting way too much from Victor Hedman. Expecting a second year player to hold down the fort in the NHL is normally a bad idea.
Now I am scratching my head and wondering why I would ever need to know this much about Tampa Bay's organizational problems.
Finally those jerseys that say, "BOLTS," across the front are dumb. I just hope Phoenix doesn't show up to their next game in, "YOTES," sweaters. Just saying. |

I don't know about that guest. According to NHL.com, TB currently allows the fewest shots per game in the NHL at an average of 27.5 - pretty stingy. However, they are 4th worst in GA/game at just over 3. If you're allowing 3 goals on 27 shots as an average, that usually points to goaltending as the problem, not defense. |

Roloson has been solid since the playoff run for the Oilers in 06. This guy has played his entire career(as a starter) on weak defensive teams which has brought down the overall perception of his abilities. He's a bonified starter and will make TB a better team.
Steve Y very quitely and very quickly build a solid team in TB. As the guest notes, the defense still needs a little work, but outside of a true shutdown guy there aren't any holes in that roster. |

Roloson has proven he can be a strong contributer ie: Oilers run in 06. I think he will add a few wins and make TB a better team!! Good move by Stevie Y! |

I actually love the move by Stevie Y is their anything the detroit organization doesnt touch that turns to gold?
In a short time he has made some great moves and looks like a real veteran.
4yrs ago in EDM Roloson basically willed the oilers to the cups and they remained respectible with him in goal afterwards, not to mention in NYI last yr he had a bunch of 45 - 50 save games which he managed to win for them. With the offensive talent in TB comparable to WSH and a goalie now that i believe is much better then Varlamov & Neuvirth i think TB could easily be classified as the team to beat in the southeast and could just as easily battle for first in the conference.
Obviously, only time will tell but i dont see how this can do anything but raise the stock of this team.

When was Rollie bonified? I, personally, wouldn't bonify him with a ten-foot pole.
The Oil WILL make the playoffs in 2011. |

Mario....here could be the clip that would get Avery that you speak of. Scary thing is, the ref's arm goes up in the background!!! I sure hope it was for Avery (diving) and not Jagr? Anyone remember this???

LMAO that's the first time i've ever seen Jags hit a guy in his life, the man was built like a brick s**t house but never cared to touch anyone prefered to carry them on his back. No disrespect to Franzen but Jagr was a player truly deserving of the nickname the mule.
Thanks for the Laugh

man, what is it with Roloson...seems he's getting a shutout, or letting in 4 out of 10.
Perhaps TB didn't solve their goaltending woes... |
