Poll Question:
There has been so much trading in the past weeks, will there be many on deadline day?

Bring back the Jets!

Choices:

No trades
1-3 trades
4-7 trades
8-10 trades
10+ trades
Not many trades, but Blockbusters!

Blockbusters!

Richards, Cammalleri, if the big guys move, it'll happen this day.

Well, it's an absolute guarantee that there are more than 10 trades, for sure. Most if not all may be pretty minor, but there will be over ten, yeah.

I do have a feeling that there will be at least one major deal on deadline day, actually. With all of the funny stuff that GMs are doing these days, and with Tallon in Florida and those wonky Islanders . . . anything is possible. And then there are the Rangers, who love to deal on the deadline. And something is bound to get dealt from Edmonton, there'll be lots of suitors for Penner and Hemsky.

I predict at least one big name player to go on trade deadline, but not a ton of blockbusters. Over twenty trades, but under thirty.

yeah theres always deals on deadline day.. doesn't mean they will big but theres always more then 10 trades lol. It would be really super boring if there wasn't at least 10 deals.. TSN wouldn't have anything to do if there weren't at least that many. Listening to Duthie that long with no deals would be annoying. lol

I think there'll still be plenty of moving, hopefully involving some big names. The majority of the players the deadline rumors have centered around are still out there...Brad Richards, Alex Hemsky, Tomas Vokoun, Dustin Penner, Zach Bogosian, Stephen Weiss, JM Liles, Tim Connolly, Bryan McCabe, Kristian Huselius, Chris Phillips, Jason Arnott, Sergei Gonchar, Rusty Olesz, Niclas Bergfors, Nik Antropov, Paul Stastny, etc etc.

While i hardly expect all to be traded, i'm sure you'll see a few of them move.

I think Slozo has it pretty bang on - between twenty and thirty with not many "blockbusters."

There's been more than 20 trades every year since the lockout, peaking with 31 last year. I don't see that trend changing.

*Edit: For the record, I didn't know that off the top of my head - Source: http://www.tsn.ca/tradecentre/feature/?id=10407 *

Yes over 20 for sure I think the parity in the standings will cause the GMs to hold out til the last minute to finalze deals in the works. Especially in the West. I'm glad the Oil have not put pressure to move players this year I expect there will be plenty in the future tho.

don't think the Leafs will go after Penner at all. isn't he a winger, that more or less mirrors Lupul?
i wouldn't be surprised if the Leafs stand pat as far as "major deals" go. BB may be interested in Liles, but i don't think he'll offer too much for him, and i don't think the Avs let him go unless it's the right price. strangely enough though, since Kabby left their PP and PK have improved so are they really that interested in Liles anymore?

Ive always went againist people who say kaberle is a powerplay specialist....TO`s powerplay has been 28th to 30th in the league for the past decade....whats so special about that ?

kaberle hangs on to the puck wayyyyyyy to long.....never shoots...and runs down the clock on his own powerplay. No wonder TO`s numbers have improved since he left.

kaberle hasn`t scored a powerplay goal in over a YEAR !!!!!

I guess Kaberle was the only one out there during the PP and that no other player has any responsibility in that??

You might also want to check every other Leaf defensemen and see how many PP goals they have scored, well combined, in the past year. I bet you can count them on one hand. Even the great Dion Phaneuf who was well known for his shot from the point on the PP in Calgary has 1 or 2 since he was traded.

Most 'powerplay specialist' defensemen such as Kaberle are not goal scorers. With the exception of the odd season when a player like Green or Souray had around 20 PP goals, most defensemen (even the best) have between 10 and 15 goals. Furthermore, with the exception of an injury shortened season, Kaberle has no fewer than 20 PP assists since 05, including one season with 45 PP assists.

Finally, Kaberle is such an average PP player who holds on the puck too long and played on the 28th ranked PP in the NHL. Please explain to me how Kaberle could possible be tied for the 3rd most PP assists in the NHL (Lidstrom has 24, Jack Johnson has 23, Yandle and Kaberle are tied with 22).

All 22 of those assists were with the Leafs.

In the words of Sheldon Cooper,

Ba-zinga!!!

Let's keep it on topic folks - Kaberle has been talked to death in other threads, and has already been traded. This is a trade deadline thread.

Listening to the guys on TSN today, it doesn't sound like Liles will be heading to TO.

quick off topic...

Apparently, the Phaneuf goal on the weekend was the first PP goal by any Leaf defenseman in over a year! That is shocking...
