Poll Question:
Now that the trade deadline has passed, there will be no more moves . . . but there certainly was a lot of action in the month beforehand.
Which team has benefitted the most from their trades?

I think Boston has put together the best team after the deadline they seem to have all the pieces in place for deep run. I like the Edmonton move as well but I may be bias. |

Wow, great question, but a very difficult one as well! To be honest, no team really went above and beyond in my opinion.
Toronto's moves look good, especially the return they got on Kaberle. I love what the Oilers got for Penner. Yeah, he's a big 30 goal guy, i just don't see him being a big enough difference maker in LA to put them over the top. I think they needed to do a little more. Maybe being out of Edm will help him as that offer sheet contract he signed really put him under the spotlight sotospeak!
I like the Lapierre pickup here in Vancouver as it was pretty much exactly what they were looking for but i wouldn't say their pickups will be the biggest difference makers.
Again, i don't see anyone having totally stolen a couple of difference makers so it's a tough question.
Here's a link to Yahoo's trade tracker for anyone wanting to look over the deals..........

The most benefit came for teams outside the playoff picture, go figure. I think EDM improved from the Penner deal, although Penner is what LA needed, it doesn't push them over the top or anything like that. COL and STL both improved with their big deal, and I still think STL got the better end of that deal. |

For immediate return, I think it was close between LA and Boston. They both added pieces that will really help them in the playoffs (if/when LA makes it, that it) and make both a more well-rounded contender. LA will be once again a team no one really wants to face in the West . . . one of those teams that might squeak in and cause a lot of trouble.
I voted Boston though because between the two, I do think Kaberle will be a huge boost for their power play, and augment their offense a bit. It makes an 'ok' contender into a top three contender, I'd say (for the East).
But as pointed out, no one really blew anyone out of the water.
