Hey Admin,
I don't know the do-able factor of this, but allow me to pitch an idea: Would it be possible for you guys to construct a piece of software, an applet perhaps, that would be similar to an IM client? BUT, the twist is that the IM is for drafts, so you would log on as your forum ID and you could create/join rooms by draft groups or whatever. As an added feature, there could be a default button you could click where it asks you for a player's name, and in the dialog box a formatted piece of text could say something like ***BABLABOUSHKA SELECTS JOE THORNTON*** or something. Listen I'm just dreaming here, but with so many IM scripts out there, and a bit of effort, I really don't think this is such a long shot. If you had to maybe it could be another perk of a paid account?
But I mean think of how much easier the GOAT draft could have been, or how easy it would make the regular season/playoff drafts... How many other pool sites offer something like this, if any? Couldn't it be something you guys use to pitch the website? Again, just dreaming...

I think it would be a greta idea, but it would have to work for apple and microsoft (if you can).

Not necessarily. The only part in this whole idea that I wouldn't know how to do would be the whole networking part. I have enough Java/Visual Basic knowledge to be able to do the rest of it but I never learned how to incorporate networking into applets. For someone who knew what they were doing, it really wouldn't take all that long. Plus, there are tonnes of IM templates and scripts available to study online that could help make something like this pretty easy, relatively speaking of course. |
