Any thoughts on the idea of eliminating fighting from hockey, as raised by Colin Campbell, Dir. of Hockey operations? I personally am unsure what would actually be done. Guys would still fight, so would there be suspensions for every fight match penalties always assigned, or what? I think figthing has a role in the professional game, but is it a black eye for hockey? Even some junior A leagues hand out suspensions for every fight. While that's certainly not the NHL, that was one way guys used to get attention from scouts, but now is very much looked down upon.
What a terrible idea, fighting needs to stay how it is. Goons will take cheap shots on superstars and other inforcers will not be able to protect them.
