Overall I think Montreal is looking good heading into the next season. Cammalleri had a messed season last year right from the starting block when he was benched for the first game of the season against Toronto. I believe he has something to prove, he wants to be the eventual captain, as is evident by his playoff performances over the last 2 years, and by the way he conducts himself off the ice. Expect a big season from him, if he plays all 82 games I think he will put up numbers to make all Montreal fans smile.
I think Subban is also going to have an impact season, it took him a little while to get going last year, getting benched several times, but I think this year he is going to prove beyond any shadow of a doubt that he is a top 2 defenceman, that is if there is anyone out there that doubts it now.
Price, like most goalies, will improve with age and produce numbers similar to, if not better than, last season.
I suspect Kostitsyn to be playing somewhere else by the end of the season. Gionta will miss most of the season with injury, as will Markov. Next year this time people will still be shaking their heads over the fact that Gomez makes so much money, as his numbers might get a little better, but not much.
Thanks Jojo. |

Montreal's biggest problem is staying healthy, if they can do that, they'll be a contender this coming season. |

you started the comaprison of the two players but yet i continu it and all of a sudden i'm off topic and you're done with this argument,, bla bla bla weak slozo weak,, and of course plus minus doesn't matter when it doesn't favor your argument but if the shoe was on the other foot it may matter much more,,, but nooooooooo you'll say no i never cared for plus minus it's a usless stat bla bla bla

I said I wasn't going to comment again, but I have to say this:
I do apologise, Pasty - it was indeed nuxfan who brought up the Kessel comparison, with St. Beans chirping away immediately with the usual obnoxious rhetoric.
I definitely mixed you two up, and it wasn't you at all that brought up the Kessel/Cammi comparison, so I formally retract my statements towards you in that regard.
I'll let everything else stand though.

St. Beans chirping away immediately with the usual obnoxious rhetoric????
Hello Pot, I am the Kettle. Nice to see you.
Typical Slozo 'strawman' stuff. Don't like the argument anymore and no intelligent rebuttal then it's time to start throwing personal shots!! I am reminded of a situation about a month ago where Slozo went on a tirade of comments towards me and insulting my integrity when he didn't like what I said. Something about me not taking a risk in making predictions so I could always follow up with an 'I told you so??" Then I proved very clearly how incorrect he was and there was never a response back. Typical.
Obnoxious rhetoric?? Stay classy Slozo. |

i think this says it all actually , tox you are 100% right if they do not lose any key players for extended periods of time during this coming season they have a good enough team to comepte with any team in the east night in and night out,, but if like the last 2 seasons Markov goes down , they lose Cammy Gionta or god forbib price for a extended period of time that is when they become a boarderline team fighting for a spot in the top 8
And to be honest slozo i really don't understand your last post so you are sorry for saying a brought up phil kessel but i'm still a supposed Montreal fan because i spell their team name in english? and everything else that sounded a lot like "obnoxious rhetoric" in your post still stands ........ ok i guess

Had I known it would derail the thread like this, I wouldn't have bothered. It was more a reflection on the dismal views of Cammy than anything...
Back to the Habs.

Boogedy, thats a tough one - what marginal 4th line players are still available as free agents? |

I think Aaron Puslaji (no way i spelt that correctly) may push for the spot according to the team 990 they say he has been Hamiltons best all round player while putting up decent points he did play 2 games with the big club last year and did not look out of place, but what also leads me to think it may be him is on Twitter Subban Cammalleri and Pacioretty often reference him with thing like "golf today with my good buddy ..." and things of this nature so he obviously fits into the lockeroom already.....

Other than Markov returning the Canadians are basically the same team as they were a year ago.
They squeaked into the playoffs last season with stellar goal - tending from Price all season. The only indicator i see here from this fact is that they will need great goal - tending again this season to make the playoffs.
Theres no reason to think Price should have a bad season so the Canadians should finish up very close with the same points as they had last season. |

i agree on most counts except the squeaked in part they finished 6th and for the last month had a spot locked up the only thing that could have changed is they could have dropped to 8th, secondly Josh Gorges was out for most of the season aswell and he is a top shut down guy and shot blocker, Erik Cole is a good addition but we will see which Cole we get, and pacioretty was well on his was to being a 20 goal scorer with only half the season played and he will be back, so i think their is a lot to be optomistic about, and Deharnais scored 27 points in like 47 games so he can add some third line scoring!

I don`t think the Canadians are in trouble or anything Pasty. I was just simply noting the fact that with no drastic changes to their team ( which may be a good thing ) the Canadians should have a season pretty much similar to last season.
Their offense is almost indentical to last season is it not ? Markov and Jorges are back but R. Ham and J. Wis are gone. I thought Ham. was very solid defensively for them and Wis. was awesome on the powerplay, they both will be surely missed. |
