Nice signature Saku
(But be sure to spell your hero's name right: it's Viktor)

I actually said NYI, since they had to fight like that just to get in the playoffs and are the last seeded team, but Semin's right about Pittsburgh. They have no playoff experience together, and although they were good in the regular season it took them awhile to get that good. Their chemistry needs to develop more before they will become strong playoff contenders. Maybe next year. But I gotta hand it to them for getting to the playoffs with such a young average age and with so many new players. As the Canadians seem to say, props to you!

I think Pittsburgh will do fairly well. They will just jump in and do what they can. I voted Rangers.

It's weird. The Rangers are basically the Czech Republic's Olympic team, who won bronze, plus guys like Shanahan and Avery, yet they're having a fairly weak season. I expected more out of them. I can see where you guys are coming from saying the Rangers, but I still think the Pens are going to have a few difficulties.

How could anyone say Pittsburgh when a team like NYI is in the playoffs? Ok let's compare:

Crosby -> Smyth
Malkin -> Yashin
Staal -> Satan
Recchi -> Kozlov
Gonchar -> Bergeron
Fleury -> Dubielewicz

HHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMM??????????????????

Well babs, I actually did say NYI (there's only 1 vote for Pittsburgh and that was Semin), I mistyped my post. I meant to say "I said NYI" and then go on about Pittsburgh but my head skipped ahead of my fingers.

Good point with the comparison, but Pittsburgh has no experience in the post season with their current team, and I dunno how well the team chemistry will hold up, especially under the pressure of the post-season and given the fact that they're playing Ottawa who's ahead of them in the standings anyway.

And Saku--you probably made a typo but it's Kozlov

Tampa is the weakest I would say. They got one line you stop it and you beat them.

I would say that the New York teams are the weakest, but the pens are most inexperienced. That could equal weakness, especially because they are playing the Sens, who are alot more experienced.

when life gives you lemons throw them at the Ottawa Senators and their fans and hope it gets them in the eyes ;)

I think the Pens' inexperience is way too overblown. Everyone has to start somewhere and I think they have a good combo of youth and experience (Roberts, Recchi, Gonchar) to be scarier than people expect.

And yeah, you're right. The Sens have plenty of experience...

losing.

Tampa has two 100+ point forwards on that line, and they both play more than all but the most elite of Dmen, stopping it is easier said than done. And about twice the ice time of most checking forwards.

I'm not so sure i'd say Fluery is that far ahead of Dubielewicz, i really think Dubielewicz is somewhat of a wildcard. He played great down the stretch, when i would have expected the Isles to fold up shop. But otherwise yeah, the Pens are superior to the Isles everywhere.

I picked the Rangers. It is hard to say which Jagr will show up, but in recent years the floater has been in a lot more games than the force of nature. Lundquist is really good, but i think only equal to Lehtonin. Avery will more than likely get more penalties than he draws from Kovalchuk. I just don't see the drive to win in the Rangers that i see in most other playoff teams.

Maybe Shanahan will be able to turn their attitude around, but i don't see it happening. If they lose the first game they will be out five at most.

I think NYR are the worst team in the playoffs. Though looking back at the original question, " Who do you think is going to have the most trouble staying in the playoffs?" It will have to be the Isles, who are gonna get steamrolled by Buffalo.

I wouldnt count them out so easy... the teams are very evenly matched offense/defense. This is going to be a TOUGH grinding series... No easy victor here!

Hi Semin-rules, loved the poll so I featured it on the home page. We can't play fovourites so I removed the "Dallas" verbiage. Hope you don't mind. Thanks for the contribution!

First, I'm a Pens fan. Second, here's why I think they will be out quickly:
I agree with the Crosby/Smyth, Malkin/Yashin comparisons, but what you really fail to mention is the Penguins defence. In my opinion, the weakest of the remaining 16 teams. When you look down your bench for the "shut-down" guy, and your best option is Mark Eaton or Brooks Orpik, you have issues. Gonchar gets points, but is easier to beat than a one-legged mule. Whitney also scored a lot of points this year, but for those of you who watched a lot of Pens games, ask yourself this: how many SHOULD he have gotten? How many open net opportunities did he miss off Crosby passes alone? I love the Penguins up front, but the playoffs are all about a strong, mobile defence that can make a quick first pass out of the zone. Tape-to-tape passes are a rarity from the Pens defence. Tape to ass or leg do not count. Have you ever seen Gonchar leave the zone on a power play.? His movement could only be described as glacial (as in, he move like a glacier). The Pens need to sign one or two guys in the Pronger/Neidermeyer/Souray mold before they will contend. I hope I'm wrong, but I won't be.

Good analysis, although signing Souray would just turn the defense core into a 5th offensive line. He's no better defensively than any of those players you mentioned.

Very suprised at Calgary having the 2nd amount of votes. I'd favor the Flames heavily over any East team other than Buffalo, New Jersey or Ottawa. They's walk over the Rangers, Thrashers, Islanders ot Lightning.
