Poll Question:
Who is going to win this series? This is probobly going to be the hardest series other than Ottawa/Pittsburgh, so it will be close. I think that San Jose will pull it off in game 5 or 6. What about you?

I agree that it will be one of the hardest match ups 4v5 usually is, but i would think that a challenging matchup is probably going to hit 6 games if not 7. If the series is over in 5 one team got dominated, and i don't think that will happen here.
Goaltending edge: SJ small edge in consistency. Defence: equal, not a huge fan of either team's D, except maybe Hannon and Timonen. Forwards: hard call. If Forsberg is healthy this is gonna be a real knock 'em down, drag em out series. If not you have to give the edge to SJ. Special Teams: Again if Forsberg is healthy, it changes everything and i'd give Nashville a small edge. But if Forsberg is less than 100%, SJ will have control here as well.
San Jose in seven if Forsberg is healthy, or in six if not. |

SJ...with Thornton, Marleau, Cheechoo, Toskala, Guerin, Clowe, etc they're unstoppable. Yeah Nashville has Kariya and Forsberg, but what do you wanna bet Forsberg's gonna get injured? And plus, Nashville's record looks good in a division full of weak teams, but SJ is a strong team, and with limited season experience playing strong teams, the Preds aren't gonna do as well. |

San Jose's best bet is to come out crushing guys right from the first shift of the first game tomorrow night, including and ESPECIALLY Mr. Forsberg. That's how Edmonton beat SJ last year, by beating them along the boards. Also, they have to maintain puck possession a lot more, like Thornton is so great at (he's not just a good passer). This will make Nashville take penalties early which means PP for SJ, tiring Nashville's defense out and keeping their stars off the ice.
10 bucks says Marcel Goc's line starts the game against Nashville tomorrow night. |

IIRC, last year, San Jose won this series on the power play, so forcing penalties and then cashing in will be huge. The Sharks are a much bigger group of guys, so it will be interesting to see if guys like Forsberg, TooToo et al try to get physical.

Toughest series to predict. When I made my pool I hesitated to pick guys from this series. We will see, but I can't give my estimation.
When life gives you lemons throw them at the Ottawa Senators and their fans and hope it gets them in the eyes ;) |

We got a very wise young lady here...The Preds are no good I tell ya....Peter is not "the great" no more..Even his good games aren't as good as Thorntons bad ones.....Not to mention the Sharks do have a better goalie tandem (unlike babs, however, I support Nabokov to the max).....Sharks in 5.

I don't think that Nashville has enough of a team to beat San Jose 4 out of 7. San Jose are deep all the way down the bench, goalies are both awesome, and they are, in my opinion, bigger and stronger. Babs is exactly right, if San Jose takes a page out of Edmonton 06 and crunch them early and often, Nashville will be on the ropes.
San Jose in 5

Very tough series.. Both teams have their strengths. I can easily see either team winning this one... |

Nashville has a lot of firepower and with everyone concentrated on guys like Forsberg, Sullivan or Kariya, its guys like Radulov who will make the Preds win.
i still think it will be San Jose in 6.

We'll see bud . I think it's going to end just like last year. Sharks will take the next two, and if not, then they'll end it at home in Game 6. |

Man it sounds like someone has mixed some anger issues along with a lot of wishful thinking. Actually it sounds a lot like the Predators themselves. SJ proved in game three that they can calm the game down and win by controlling the puck and the tempo of the game. Game 3 wasn't a brawl like games 1 & 2, the bottom line is San Jose proved that they were straight up a better HOCKEY team and out played NSH |

Eek, too bad eh?
Just like I said, either they'll finish it off tomorrow night or they'll win it at home. Either way, it's bye bye Trashville . After that game last night, I'm starting to really warm up to Nabokov (don't know why he couldn't play like this in the regular season though), I just hope he can keep it up. |

Looks like my San Jose in 5 prediction from before the start of the series may hold true.
San Jose is too much team for Nashville's Goon Squad to handle. |

Never a doubt in my mind...
So much for a tough series eh? SJ defeats the 3rd overall seed in 5 games. I hope one of the remaining series goes 7 games so the Sharks can rest. Ideally, Detroit would beat Calgary in 7, Vancouver would beat Dallas in 7, which would mean a rested SJ would play a beat up Detroit and then Anaheim and Vancouver could beat themselves up in 7 then play a rested SJ who will beat Detroit in 4. |

The key to the game 5 win for SJS was the play of Patrick Marleau. Two goals including the game winner set up by Thornton
Always next year!! |
