People dislike Roy because he was easily the most egotistical person who ever played the game. Plus that crap about never playing in Montreal again because he didn't get pulled in a blow out.
I used to like watching him jump over the blue line EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! Talent wise and results wise, best goalie ever. Too bad he didn't have an ounce of humility.

Agreed. Most talented goalie ever, biggest ego ever. |

I know where you anti-Roy guys are coming from but, as a Bourque fan, I am forever grateful to the guy for absolutely stoning the Devils in Game 6 of the 2001 finals.
But I also have to say that even when Roy was with the Habs, one thing that I always really liked about him, and you anti-Roy guys may find this surprising, is that he was actually a very good loser after those series which Boston took in the late '80s/early 90s. His comments after those series were always very interesting, insightful and he never failed to give the Bruins their credit. He may have been a hothead at times but let's not paint him as a totally terrible guy - he gets quite a few redemption points from me for his good sportsmanship after some tough losses. |

Great goalie? ... yes Hall of Famer? ... of course. Still, one of the most overrated players in NHL history? ... without a doubt. |
