I went with St. Louis... this guy had an amazing year and contributed greatly to Lecavalier finishing first in goals scored. Yet anytime you hear people talking about Tampa it's all about Vinny.

I say Savard he is an amazing playmaker i say 3rd best in the whole league and he isn't even playing on that great of a team, I bet Atlanta misses him half the reason why Kovalchuk got 98 points last season was because of Savard.

Mike Cammalleri 81 games 34 G 46 A 80 Points. 16 on the PP. +5 rating on the 3rd worst team in the league, 54% in the F/O circle and all that in 18 minutes/game.

NO ONE talks about him. He is my pick for the most under-rated.

I say that Savard is the most under-rated player that everyone talks about, yet everyone says no one talks about. He is no secret anymore. Cammalleri still is. Kopitar, Frolov, and Visnovsky get all the attention in LA and Cammalleri has better numbers and plays less minutes than all of them.

I think the fact that A LOT OF PEOPLE say that Savard is underrated, makes him quite appreciated. Haha wow Beans, I hadn't seen your post before I posted mine, but I'm glad we agree on this!

I chose Jokinen. Here are his last six seasons:

16 pts > 29 pts > 65 pts > 58 pts > 89 pts > 91 pts

This guy has improved tremendously in his time with Florida (where he gets little to no recognition at all). Last year he was 16th in scoring and this year he finished 14th, all the while playing on a crappy team. He scored 6G 2A in 8 games for the Finns at the Olympics. Imagine what this guy could do on a decent team. I think it's time that Jokinen be considered one of the elite players in the NHL.

Appreciated in the fanbase, yes, but ignored by the media. I think that's what bonfire was referring to.

Camellari got my vote. Beans made quite the argument for him, and it was very convincing. So that one Cammelari vote was made by yours truly.

When life gives you lemons throw them at the Ottawa Senators and their fans and hope it gets them in the eyes ;)

Oh no, the media talks about him quite often as the "most underrated player in the NHL".

He's well-known now after his back-to-back great seasons.

Whenever I watch Boston games I don't hear too much about him, but maybe I'm just not watching when they mention this. But the fact that everyone thinks he's underrated isn't for nothing, he must really be underrated then. He's talked about often, but only to say that he's underrated, not to talk about his accomplishments. If you aren't talking about his accomplishments, he's not getting credit. They're just saying he DESERVES credit, which is different from GETTING it.

But whatever, I can certainly understand where you're coming from with Cammalleri. I didn't think too much about Olli Jokinen...maybe that's part of the proof that he's underrated!

Savard is such a great player with no hype surrounding him. when more people start recognizing his talent he will not play as great as he has been playing.

Always next year!!

Bad Team=No Press=Underrated Players
Hence the names of Cammalleri, Jokinen, and *cough* Savard.

Jokinen was my second choice. He has gotten his props in the past, but not this year. Jokinen should be an Oiler by July 15th.

Damn it, I was dreaming again.

It might be different in the west because I don't usually hear him mentioned nearly as much as lecavalier... for two players who're so close in skill I think one gets a lot more mention than the other.

I say Savard. The one thing I keep hearing in hockey circles is that he is a jerk. Now, who really knows unless you are around the guy, but the word amongst players is that he is impossible to get along with. This might explain why the press treats him like a fourth liner.

SEDIN because he managed to get 36 goals. Now that might not seem so great compared to the other big guns but he is ranked 146th in ice time. His ice time average is 18:03 per game while Lecavalier's is 22:36. To get 36 goals with that ice time is amazing. I dont care waht anyone thinks thats pretty underrated.

Selanne with 48 goals, Vanek with 43, Cheechoo with 37, and Guerin with 36 all had a lower T.O.I than Sedin. That doesn't tell me much.

Pavol Demitra. He didn't have the season i thought he would, but still respectable.

He's the most underrated forward of the past several years. He has finished in the top ten in scoring twice. Plays in all situations for his team, doesn't take many penalties and plays solid positional defense.

I'm Pickin Jokinen.........92 pts with a team like Florida!!!!!

He has also stedially increased his point production each season. Savard deserves mention as well. This guy reminds me of Adam Oates

Thomas Holmstrom, he plays on the top line he hits a lot he works hard and he is one of the best in front of the net. But in Detroit it's all Lidstrom, Datsyuk and Zetterberg but Holmstrom is a 30 goal scorer and an average about 50-60 points a year that's not to bad.

I said Marc Savard. He is the most underrated player in the NHL, but I have also heard from inside sources that he is a first class a-hole. But that's just talk.

Most OVERrated player ever? Brendan Morrison. I have never seen him do anything useful, yet he is tstill considered a "star" of the NHL.

This could very well be true. In the article I posted in the "what the players think" thread he was picked as one of the most disliked by other players. I was surprised at first but it's sounding more and more like there is something to it.

When Savard played in Calgary i got to play poker with him one night. Complete d***. Sure loved to show off the cash.

I've played against a lot of the Flames over the years. Fleury and Housley were really bad too. McCarthy is very likable, the nicest guy was several years ago playing at a table with Hnat Domenichelli. Too bad he was chasing Brian Sutter's daughter... got himself buried

I'm sure McCarthy was very likable indeed... he lost all his money gambling!!! I'd like to play him too if I was at a poker table. . Do they all just go to the stampede casino or do you know them personally?
