Looks like there is a good possibility of both Canadas iconic teams my miss the playoffs in the same year. Just wondering has this happened before? And also will that take away from the Stanley cup playoffs in 2012.

Will take away from overall viewership numbers but won't take away from the quality of hockey at all.
If anything, it's probably good because all of the media coverage of the other teams won't get needlessly dwarfed by these two.

the playoff would be better with ou the leafs or canadians, esp, for the rest of CANADA who cheer for other CANADIAN teams, thsi country and sport news revole around around the habs and leafs durning playoff time and dont seam to bother about the other teams...
LETS HOPE THE JETS and the SENS make it in and hopefully the FLAMES

Canada is more than these two teams. I would argue that it is even more than the other 5 Canadian teams. Alot of Canadians cheer for American based teams. I for one could care less about Toronto and Montreal as a Boston fan who lives in Canada im glad they are not going to make it except that Boson and Montreal do have entertaining playoff matches.
