I think the San Jose-Detroit series is going to be amazing hockey to watch. I believe they will win the series, and I think that the winner of Ana-Van will be tired from a very grinding series. San Jose should step on their opponent in the West Final. And I don't think there is a team in the East that can skate with Ana, Det, or SJ. The Cup winner will be from the West this year, and my vote is going to SJ.
PS-Bab's, can we be friends now that I am supporting your team???? |

I think the #1 seed will come out as the champs. They have the perfect team for the playoff run.
I've figured it out, the guys gotta play like girls! |

Anaheim is gonna take Vancouver in 6, and then barely beat San Jose in 6. Buffalo is gonna take the Rangers in 5, and then beat the Sens in 7. Buffalo will then beat Anaheim in 7. |

Sabres, Sabres, Sabres. I've explained why in several other topics, so no need to write it all out again.

The Sens are hot, and so is Heatley. Look for them to take down the Devils in 6 this series. |

ill just keep it plain and simple:
san jose over detroit, over the fact detroit comes from a weak division. anaheim over vancouver, they have one thing canucks dont, scoring.
buffalo over rangers. buffalo has too much fire power. new jersey over ottawa, defence and brodeur, 3 cups and way more experience
anaheim over san jose, the pronger/neidermeyer duo will dominate new jersey over buffalo, when it comes down to it, its all about discipline, defence, and goaltending.
new jersey over anaheim, this was by far brodeurs best season, dont be surprised if he gets another ring for his finger. |

Soooooooooo many homer voters. To want your team to win is one thing, but let's be realistic here when we vote. Vancouver? Really? Really? Insert smilie that laughs hysterically here.

Vancouver fans, I love the loyalty, but they were shut out for three games against Dallas. They don't have a hope. Some teams have a lack of secondary scoring. The Canucks don't even have primary scoring.
I see an Anaheim/Sabres final, but I would not discount Ottawa. They have a team that has seen some playoff action in the past, but never quite had the "it factor" to take them all the way. I think they may have "it" this year. If Emery can keep playing well, they have a shot.
Anaheim was my pick, btw. It's tough to beat the team with the two best blueliners in the league on the same team. They also have experienced and proven goaltending as well as decent scoring (Getzlaf who is becoming a young superstar, Selanne, Perry, Penner, and more). Detroit will definitely challenge them.

Well I picked Anaheim to win the cup right from the beginning of the NHL season. Nothing has changed at this point in the season.
To anybody who says it is unrealistic to think their home team will win the cup needs to give their head a shake. Look at the past seasons in the NHL playoffs. I seem to recall last season that in the west, seeds 5-8 won every one of the first round series. Every team has hope, with a new slate for all 8 teams starting their new series, don't count anybody out just yet. Wait until you see the action begin. Different players succeed against different teams for whatever reasons, and it could be enough for anybody to pull through.
Remember 1 thing. There are 8 teams remaining. All 8 have a chance to win the cup, unlike the other 22 teams in the league. |

How can you say spoken like a true homer when I didn't even pick my home team to win? I'm just saying it like it is. Any team can get hot at any moment. And I'll leave it at that. |

Well, I assumed your "give your head a shake" comment was directed at me for questioning people picking Vancouver in this poll. I looked at your avatar and concluded you were defending the Nucks. Even though you did not pick them to win, you did defend those that did because Vancouver is indeed your team. Like Nick Carter used to say "If I'm wrong I swear to God I'll apologize."

Who are you referring to? Buffalo? Detroit? Why are they so perfect?
As I've elaborated on in other threads, I think Buffalo has depth unmatched by any team in the league, but certainly are not perfect. I pick Buffalo to emerge with the Cup because the depth will carry them in later rounds. No other team can run 4 lines the way the Sabres can. I don't think it will be close against NYR (who beat a team they were significantly better than during the whole season in round 1). Buffalo in 5 Ottawa in 6 SJS in 7 Detroit (unfortunately) in 6 - Vancouver lacks the offensive power to advance any further. They were lucky to make it through round 1 and face another formidable goalie in round 2. |

You're right Buffalo has a good team and they are viable contenders for the cup but you are mistaken if you think no other team can run four lines like them. SJ runs four lines and has depth just as good if not better then buffalo, apparent in the fact that SJ has 18 players with at least one point in the playoffs and BUF has 17.
Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to say Buffalo doesn't have a good team but the playoffs is a whole new ballgame and as good as they are I think their a little too overrated and too many people have already (figuratively) handed them the cup.

San Jose is looking great. If Thornton and Cheechoo can keep contributing they will have a good chance. Nabokov has to keep playing well also.
