Eight different seeds (albeit different conferences) made it through to the second round:
1. New York Rangers (#1 East)
2. St. Louis Blues (#2 West)
3. Phoenix Coyotes (#3 West)
4. Nashville Predators (#4 West)
5. Philadelphia Flyers (#5 East)
6. New Jersey Devils (#6 East)
7. Washington Capitals (#7 East)
8. Los Angeles Kings (#8 West)
I bet this has never happened before!

It happened the year the hurricanes won the cup if Im not mistaken. Top 4 seeds in the east, bottom 4 in the west. |

It happened 2 years ago (2010).
#1,2,3,5 in the west
#4,6,7,8 in the east
West: San Jose, Chicago, Vancouver, Detroit
East: Pittsburgh, Boston, Philadelphia, Montreal

Actually, in 2010 those matchups went all the way to the Finals.
Round 2:
in the west, #1 and #2 won (San Jose and Chicago)
in the east, #8 and #7 won (Montreal and Philadelphia)
Round 3:
#2 (Chicago) won the west
#7 (Philadelphia) won the east
