This one is probably an easy one.
What NHL player once scored 5 goals 5 different ways in the same game and how were those goals scored?

Mason Raymond....
1.Intentionally 2. Accidentally (meant to dump it in, took a bad bounce. (Poor goalie) 3. Automatic goal as hauled down on breakaway with empty net 4. Own goal *does this count?) 5. Threw puck in, ref didn't notice.
Am i right? Oh, wait.....i said "intentionally" as one of my picks....obviously i'm wrong. |

I remember in recent times, Jerome Iginla came real close - and the thing he had over Lemeux was that his last goal was the OT winner. I do remember that he had an even strength, a shorthanded, a powerplay goal.
Frankly, for me, that OT winner trumps the empty net and penalty shot.

Wow, I guess I remembered that wrong. hunh!
I went back to take a look to make sure I was correct - the 4 goal game by Iginla was on Feb 23, 2003 against the Coyotes. There was no OT winner, but he did perform the amazing feat of having an even strength goal, a shorthanded goal, a power play goal, and an empty netter. He was a penalty shot away from Lemieux's feat.
Of note in that game, two of Iginla's goals were unassisted, and one had the goalie Turek having the lone assist. Oh, and no one else scored a goal for his team . . . they won 4-2 in a tightly contested game with obviously Iggy getting the empty netter at the end. Iginla 4, Coyotes 2. Truly a one man wrecking crew!

I never knew Iggy did that. I don't think we get enough of the West Coast games here in Ontario due to the crappy blackouts all the time. Would have been one heck of a game to see.... No line changes, just Iginla out there lol
