I noticed a topic about this in the montreal section of the forum and i thought it deserved a little more outsider input and figured it would get more attention here. As a english speaking quebec native i've played hockey in quebec all my life a large number of my friends are french canadians and i hear it all the time they want Lecavalier St louis brierre all the french superstars in montreal,,, the things they say about koivu for not being able to speak french,, the way they bash kovalev and call him a faker,,, this is a truly brutal city for hockey and i wonder if french canadiens purposly avoid playing here!

Why should he be able to? He's Finnish...
What a bunch of jerks. Not to say everyone in Montreal is like that, I'm sure there are some decent people and good for them, but for the people like this, seriously, enough with the "we're French and we're better than you" attitude.

I agree with Mik. Like plz, ok you got your "diversified nation" thing already, but don't continue wit the attitude French people should be in a French speaking place. I think Montreal does have good people but its the bull****ers that will get all of the attention.

When life gives you lemons throw them at the Ottawa Senators and their fans and hope it gets them in the eyes ;)

i agree completely i was born in quebec my parents were both born in quebec but my name is english, i am perfectly bilingual (my job requires it) and yet in the office on my hockey team among french canadians im considerd an outsider,, this province has so many barriers due to language its ridiculous,, the things 90% of the french Canadiens say aout koivu is ridiculous,, he learnt english hes trilingual i mean its not his faulthe can't speak french hes paid to put up points and lead a team and he does a good job of it.... the other thing is bob gainey's mission when he came into the organization was to serperate the three french canadiens in th locker room who thought they owned the place because of they're french,, ribeiro dagenais and theodore.... notice the three don;t play for mtl anymore 1 isn;t in the nhl anymore and 1 is very close to being a back up the rest of his career

I think that Gainey has a good head on his shoulders to manage the Canadians. He knows that building a team isn't about making the fans happy its about making the best team that you can. He has got a tough offseason ahead and it wil be even harder with the added pressure of getting Souray+getting a French Canadian.
