I don't really hate this next one, but it's inaccurate: "You miss 100% of the shots you never take" --Wayne Gretzky
If you don't take any you're 0 for 0, and 0/0 is undefined, not 100% |

Well mik, it is undefined, but depending on the limits around the point zero we could get Waynes hypothesis. Suppose for arguments sake, that the # of shots you take is defined by the real function, x, and the goal scoring function is defined by the function x^.5, then as I go to 0, then I miss infinately many of the shots I don't take...or if the goal scoring fuction is x^3, then I miss none of the shots I don't take..hahahahaha....I'm just messing around.

The limit of x^3 as x approaches zero is...indeed zero! From the left and the right. What do ya know, you can make 100% of the shots you never take

Pucknuts beat me to my favourite, I cannot believe it! Conn Smythe's quote is classic old-school hockey.
That Gretzky quote came up a few weeks ago in another thread. I have seen Gretzky talk about this statement and he worded it quite differently. I have always known it to be " 100% of the shots you don't take, don't go in". Slats also quotes it this way (I believe it is in "Boys on the Bus").
