i can t believe anyone would sign danny breirre for 7 million i mean do you put daniel brierre up there with the joe thortons and iginla`s of the league ,,, one season does not make a superstar,,,, look at his career stats i cant believe he got that contract,, i hope he plays up to its level but wow,, besides last year he has never been better then the koivu`s and tanguay`s of the league at best,,,,, gomez aswell these players have a lot to prove before i can agree with this contract

How about the fact that his contract is front loaded. This is what it looks like 07-08 $10 million 08-09 $ 8 million 09-10 $ 8 million 10-11 $ 7 million 11-12 $ 7 million 12-13 $ 3 million 13-14 $ 2 million
Briere is not a $7 million/year guy, let alone $10 million and $8 million.

Brierre is a little bitch! That gets way overpaid, we'll see how he does now with the players hes going to be playing with now, no offence to philly and some of the players that are on there.

Well I think him and Gagne can develop some chemistry. One play maker, one sniper, both French Canadian. But if you look at his contract in his final year he is only getting paid 2 million thats a significant drop from 10 million.

For sure Paintrain. Look at what Gagne did this past season. 40 goals. By himself too. No Jason Spezza, Joe Thornton, Michael Nylander, Sidney Crosby, Marc Savard. He had Mike Knuble and Jeff Carter... Pretty damn good I think. New Lecavalier-St. Louis. Just they are slightly below those high standards. |

Briere's Contract: 07-08 $10 million 08-09 $ 8 million 09-10 $ 8 million 10-11 $ 7 million 11-12 $ 7 million 12-13 $ 3 million 13-14 $ 2 million He will last 5 seasons at the most with Philadelphia. His contract is setup for an easy buyout if he is not performing after the fifth season. Some teams are paying close to 1 mil for player buyouts now.
Briere is the playmaker out of the two (Gagne, Briere), but he can also put the puck in the net, and that will help Gagne get even more goals...
