I am curious to see what you think of your favourite teams arena ranking...are they accurate or biased ?

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

I've only ever watched a game at Rexall, so I can't comment on the others. However, traditionally Rexall has the best ice in the league. It is a fun place to watch a game, but the building is pretty outdated.

Buffalo's ranked #4...not bad.

I've been to the Nationwide Arena a few times and it is quite nice. The ice looks good, the seats are clean, the outside area isn't crowded and the vendors sell cool stuff. I can see how it's number 1. I've heard however, that Detroit was supposed to have the best ice. While I was watching a Red Wings game there was a little blurb about some special Zamboni technique used to keep the ice smooth, and they said that several players enjoyed playing at the Joe Louis Arena.

Hey Mik, do you remember that post I think Willus put with the players poll from this year. Overwhelmingly Edmonton had the best ice.

You also have to wonder why the boys from Edmonton were asked to Make the ice for the past two Olympics and are doing it in 2010 as well.

Not to sound petty, but with the Oilers as bad as they are, Edmonton has to win something.

Best ice is in Edmonton!

Maybe since it's so cold in Edmonton all they have to do is grab a chunk off their roofs!

Kidding.

Perhaps the Detroit blurb was a bit biased, since after all it was a Wings game.

It might have something to do with temperature too, yet when it is too cold the ice gets brittle. I know during the hertiage classic a couple of years back they ice guys had a hell of a time as it was like -36 C with the windchill. When the players wer making turns, huge chunks of ice were cracking out.

rexall does have the best ice, and possibly best staff, i'd guess that some place in canada would be the best at making it enjoyable to watch

avs are gonna win the cup this year

I can see it now...the new headline in tour books: Relax! Come chill out in Edmonton!

OK sorry...just had to say that.

Some of the newer teams' venues were ranked up near the top, expected since they're new and more up to date and all, but some were ranked near the bottom, maybe cheap architecture and less care put into building it?
