Numerous Rumors have been flying around the hockey media for the leafs. Particularly Andrew Raycroft. Rumors have said he is off to LA or Pheonix. These Rumors talk about Nick Boynton, Cujo, and draft picks. It's not clear of what is being offered. It's just a small deal for the yotes but it's huge for the leafs. Rumors about LA suggests Mike Cammelleri may be on his way to Toronto aswell. The leafs seem to have many options.

Dealing away Raycroft is crucial to improving the leafs sub-standard special teams on ice(PP/PK). Leafs seem to be looking for another winger to the right of Mats and a defensiive specialist in Mike Peca. Trading away either Kubina or McCabe is also big for rumors. Perticularlly Pavel Kubina.

There have been rumors of a big 3-way deal invloving Boston, San Jose, and Toronto. Players included in this seem to be: Marleau, Kubina, Glen Murray, Axelson, and Grier, Colaiacovo, and Devereaux.

Kubina is the only one that would be sure to go to a team(San Jose).

Other rumors have been about the leafs going after wingers Marek Svatos and Milan Hejduk for a young puck moving D-man and maybe some prospects/draft picks.

Kubina to the Islanders is also a small rumor flying around.

Canucks rumored trades to the leafs. Ohlund included.

The Colorado deal looks pretty good to me, as a leafs fan. Peca will be a good addition for more defense. Hejduk is the main one everyone is interested in with that deal but I would much rather get Svatos. Much younger and more potential. Steen-Wellwood-Svatos anyone?

Nick Boynton would be a good candidate to replace Kubina or McCabe. Mike Cammelleri on the leafs would be amazing.

IMO, the best case senario is

To Colorado:
Jay Harrison(preferebly over Colaiacavo)
Kubina
3 round overall pick 07/08

To Toronto:
Milan Hejduk
Marek Svatos

I'm not sure they will come that easily though. If Svatos is involved I think Colaiacavo is expendable. I would much rather let Harrison go but I don't think that would work. I don't know how well Staffan Kronvall is yet so it's a Leafs management decision as always. I'm not entirely sure I trust them though...

That's the link. Eklund is somewhat reliable but I wouldn't get your hopes up to high for any of these except for Peca maybe.

Remember, Toronto is the hockey central of the NHL so the are always going to be big rumors surrounding the leafs, true and false.

Now...Any thoughts?

I really hate to burst your bubble, but that COL-TOR trade will happen when pigs fly. Here are the reasons:

1) Why would Colorado want defensemen? They already have Hannan, Liles, Clark, and Skrastins as their top 4. They don't need any more d-men.

2) Hedjuk is locked into a $4 million/year deal until 09/10. He's proven to be close to a 100 point a season guy, and at least 70. What could they possibly get from Toronto to improve on that??

3) Svatos is a great young talent, and Colorado has proven time and time again to develop offensive talent and retain them. He may be a UFA next year, but I doubt he would go anywhere.

For all you TO fans that were hoping this would happen, think again. This is an absolutely horrible trade for Colorado and makes no sense on any level.

Well if Toronto trades for Cujo then JFJ will be fired...He is a UFA, and Gretzky will be laughing all season...

Did you know that the Leafs traded the draft rights for Cammalleri to LA for Aki Berg...that trade will not happen...

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

You're right Beans. I still think there still might be a deal though.

There is another link on the Avs/Leafs deal. I'm just the messenger though. Beans made valid points of why this would never happen. I don't really think this would. And then again...

Who the hell is this Mcphee guy anyway..

He's apparently a guy who didn't bother to find out the name of the Av's GM (Francois Giguere), before he wrote his piece. Must be a pie-in-the-sky Leafs' fan. Next time, he'll be saying Ponikarovsky and Antropov for Guy Lafleur and Bob Gainey (source: whoever the Habs' GM is).

This situation reminds me of the Edmonton Sports writers talking about a deal in the works that would have sent Lecavalier to the Oilers for Torres, Horcoff, and about 5 drafts picks. Pretty far fetched and more of for the fans to have something to talk about.

I just can see how it would benefit Colorado to sent their 2nd most offensive forward and a young guy with tons of potential for third line plugger and a defenseman who is -92 for his career. It does nothing to improve the team and they are not in cap problems.

The deal makes no sense what so ever.

Don't forget Leopold!

And why would LA do that? Yes they need a goalie, but why would you give up one of your best players on the team. LA has one of the better offensive teams from forward to defence, they will be winning games 5-4 with Cloutier in net. And Tampa Bay made it into the playoffs with only a decent goalie. Cammelleri is one of LA's most "complete players" I don't see why they would trade him. I think LA might trade Kyle Calder and a young forward for a goalie but not Cammelleri. Alex Auld is a pretty good goalie, anyone know what his status is free agent, resticted free agent etc. And wouldn't LA get him?

But I think Raycroft would look good in a kings uniform but not giving away Cammelleri for him.
