Poll Question:
The Winter Olympics in Russia are only a few months away! Will you be watching Olympic hockey?

I wouldn't miss it.
Did you hear about the retired proctologist? He spent 40 years saying "what's a place like this doing in a girl like you?" |

Absolutely will be watching, especially Canada's games. Won't matter what time, I'll set the alarm and be up (or stay up). |

It's must-see hockey.
Anyone who doesn't watch Olympic hockey with our NHL players in it . . . shouldn't even be considered hockey fans. At LEAST in a re-run at a daytime/evening showing . . .

Yeah, and I think Luongo will be the goalie. What do you guys think? |

I hope luongo is goalie, he is and always has been a great goaltender, he was part of a gold medal winning team last time and should be there again.
also, I will be watching the games no matter what time there on, if I got up at 4 am to watch Canada's juniors lose last year, I'll definitely get up early to watch the men, hopefully win! go Canada!

I just looked into the time zones a couple days ago after discussing the Olympics with a friend, and Sochi is 12 hours ahead of Pacific time. So hopefully they'll have some games at normal times (7pm or so) and I hope to go to a couple breakfast-and-hockey get togethers to watch! |

I find it very difficult to watch the NHL again right after the Olympics. The Olympics has nothing to do with money and yet it seems the players abroad all leave everything on the ice where as in the NHL some players seem to pack it in mid season and treat it more like a job or a paycheque, some i'm sure of which are quite thrilled to miss the playoffs and get some extra time off. I think generally though I like the idea that you play for the team where you are from, not many players in the NHL actually play for their "home team", it's a different level of the "have to win" mentality for both players and fans in my opinion, everyone wants to say "my country is the best". To me you can't match the Olympics hockey, not even the NhL.

Just had a look. The Olympic schedule seems show that most of Canada's round robin games are 9-11:30pm Sochi time. If, as noted in a previous post, there is a 12 hour difference, that mean a 9-11:30am (or so depending on where you are) game time in Canada. Only the gold medal game could be tough at 4am...but still...
Clearly, they know who is most likely to be watching....Canadians!!
Go Canada!! |
